The problem with the aftermarket lights is not necessarily the brightness. A significant factor is that people are too stupid to calibrate (aim) their lights. People with the hondas just add in their "projector" headlight assemblies and the HID kit and they are pointed right at the other drivers face.

uh, I've grabbed a couple different HID light setups off ebay.. They're not that bad, even when made in china...

If you want something quality and inexpensive check out Xentec branded from Amazon.com, I think they're like 130$. I've had a set of those for about 2 years without a single problem.

I was seriously giving some thought to putting HID's on my miata, but 130 for the HID kit and another 130 for the Hella Housings, thats quite a bit of change just for lights. I also dont drive my car enough in the dark to warrant it. I also hear a lot of people saying the regular halogen with the hella ecodes are a lot better then the stockers making HID's overkill.

Anyone got a NA with an HID conversion using factory style round lamps like I outlined?

Yep. These housings are total crap. Don't buy them, ever... Even for a standard halogen bulb.

Spend the money on the Hella 7" H4 housings.

I know, my poor cars. All of them have to sit outside cause I don't have a garage... Just a hole in the side of my house with an overhead door. My crotchrocket has to sit outside even!

That's not my car, but those are the headlights. They are all the lighting you'll ever need.
