Default help me bitches!!! tech question

Subaru wont start.

Clicks.

It jumps aok though.

I whip out multimeter and see a happy 14.5v while running. I go for highway drive. Shut it off. Try to start it again. This time, it turns over halfway and that's it.

Whip out multimeter again and see 12.5v on battery with the car off. WTF????

What's wrong with... battery???

Probably just tired. Take it into a parts place and have them load test it for you. They don't last forever.

as with your teal car, it's paying you back for all of the times you've abused on it.

exactly what you should see.

a battery is made up of 6 cells that can hold 2.1v each. 2.1 * 6 = 12.6v.

it might not have enough CCAs left in it however.

You probably nicked them with a sawzall.

Sounds like the battery is dying.

starter solenoid or starter maybe, if the solenoid on the firewall you can take a piece of wire and jump the hot to the starter and see if it starts. just make sure you know whats what, you dont want to jump to the wrong thing.

Should have used vice grips to tighten the claps.

Might not have been fully charged. After driving for a while, does it restart?

Could that be a possible ground issue? Long shot... but maybe when you get jumped, you're really using the ground from the other car through the jumper cables? Or when you do the jump, you aren't hooking the negative cable on your car to the battery, but a real ground directly to the chassis?

Yes, when I jump, I am indeed grounding to the motor, instead of the other battery.

Actually, the ground terminal in my other car is disconnected, so I don't think this is it.

OK I guess that my starter contacts are worn out and the extra juice helps uh them work?

Anyways I am going to replace the starter.

You were correct!!!!

I jumped the ground terminal of the battery to the block.

Car started right up!!!! Good call.

I saw the ground goes somewhere under the intercooler. I guess it got loosened or something.

Gotta go to work so I will leave it jumped but will fix this afternoon when I get home.

Thanks!!!
