I was going to buy the cheaper car to build credit, have a car between now and when I get an MSM and strip the RPF1's and hard top off to have for the MSM later. I could afford to buy the MSM now, but I'd like to avoid having payments that high when I could just wait for my car back home to sell and have another $4K-$5K to put on the down payment, plus what I get back from my tax return. I've still got my eye out for something cheap to drive around for a while, but if nothing sparks my interest then so be it. I'm in the process of getting my car up for sale and as soon as that sells I'll be in business. By that time savings + $ from the car should equal $7k-$8K, meaning I'd only have to barrow for 1/3 the value of the car and I could so using a 24 month loan.

Another thing to keep in mind: if the MSM you found is exactly what you want, you could always take the higher rate, pay on it for 3 or 4 months or whatever, once your other car sells, go refinance the loan with the new money down.

Just an idea. Remember, I'm a car salesman, I know how to help people get in the car they want :brain:

Generally speaking ,yes. You just need to make sure with the first loan that there are no penalties for early payoff.

I flew from San Diego to Seattle ~ 1200 miles to get my MSM. Bought in december of 2011 with 10k miles for $12,500 and drove it home. Deals are out there.

After a year of paying on time with my mitsubishi dealership loan, I used...lending tree? Or some similar website to refinance. They send your information to a bunch of loaners and they all contact you if they're willing to refinance. I ended up with US bank, half the interest rate, and $65 less a month, although the refinanced loan restarted my 4 year loan.

I'm in the military, I'm technically not supposed to go more then 200 miles away from Camp Pendleton during a normal 48 hour weekend, not to say I wouldn't go 300, but much more then that is really pushing it.

Thanks, I'll look into this. NavyFed is supposed to be really good with their customers, so I'll talk with one of their finance people to see if refinancing would be a viable option.

There is a '01 nearby with a 5 speed, if it has a torsen and the owner will go down on price ill pick it up, if not there is a '96 M edition in San Diego with just over 40K miles. I might be deploying in the next 6 months are so, so ill just pick one of these cars up, drive it around until i leave and buy the MSM I really want in cash when I get back.

Finally I picked up a clean '01 LS. BRG with a 5 speed, Torsen, Bose, tan leather interior, 70K miles. Plans for the future include a rollbar, coilovers or a shock/spring package and possibly a turbo kit and a 6 speed if I don't decide to get a MSM after my deployment.

So far I've driven it about 50 miles and I'm liking it a lot, defiantly better to drive then my torsenless NA.

$7600. The most similar car I could find was $9000 and had cloth seats, probs no torsen.

I bought my 01 LS Hard-S with 44k miles on it two years back for $9,200. I might have overpaid but it was EXACTLY what I wanted.

I financed with Navy Federal. I can't recall, but either USAA wouldn't finance me or the rate was too high. Either way, I used Navy Federal and everything went smooth as butter.

Thanks! My current plan is a rollbar, FM Vmaxx coilovers and maybe an enthuza axleback exhaust in the next 6 months. Once all that is done I may decide to either turbo the car, get a bike and keep the car, or get a MSM.
