Help me pick a new DD

I love how this thread is now about you
but yeah, true dat. also for some odd reason they almost always get worse gas mileage. I say odd reason because they weigh almost the same, and engine size is same, and mapping is very similar, yet there's almost always at least 2-3mpg difference. It always puzzled me.
True.
Buy subarus in the summer and miata's in the winter

More aggressive tires on the STis? Gearing the same?
G8 anyone?

Ok. Well since we're talking 4 banger awd...dare I say it...Evo? I drove an EvoX that my friend had and really liked it, but I think its still pretty far out of my price range.

too expensive.
I considered the ralliart sportback. Found a local one at a good price with low mileage.
the drawbacks:
HORRID mpgs.
Heavy.
Not fast enough.
weird dual clutch 6-sp auto trans with paddle shifters.
I like the interior, but everything I read about them people say they wished they spent the extra 5gs or so and got an evo and got better performance for the **** MPGs you get with them. I was reading people were average 15-16mpg with them.
I still dont think it makes sense to DD an EVO or STi. Besides the WRX is just as swift. it just doesn't have all the cool diff controls.
Another choice could be the GTI. They don't put out as much power, but since they are actually lighter than most cars in their class, they can accelerate just as fast. FWD so you don't have to worry as much about winter and are well built for the most part. Plus you got a 2-dr or 4-dr option.
Wish you could say the same about the R32...where you're stuck with 2-dr and a auto trans.
I really want a 4-dr, manual, hatch, with awd, and turbo.

I was actually looking at the G35 too. I really like my ssister's 03 Altima (and its only the 2.5. I bet the 3.5 is pretty quick) and the G35 seems line an Altima/Maxima with nicer options.

Even that is optimistic.
Around town don't be surprised when you get 16-17.
They feel solid, and look great, but are basically land-yachts. Super heavy, and as some road test review editor perfectly worded it: its a 8/10ths car. Good at everything, great at nothing.
or something along those lines lol
Ps: also you don't want the 03-05 model. they had many issues with the engine (oil consumption) and trans (synchros)

I drove a '10 WRX today. No doubts ill be picking one up. Although my miata probably a touch faster from a roll, the thing is perfect for my DD needs. I was worried about the exhaust when I first started it, but my wife didn't seem to complain so that's a big plus. When driving your dont hear it, but it makes a nice flat four grumble on startup and winding through gears. Still louder than I'd prefer, but whatever, really the only downside. Power felt great, AWD is fun, and was easy to drive. Suspension was just firm enough; i took it down an old back road and it felt fine over bumps...my wife even noticed how nice it felt. I'd have no problems traveling long distances in it.
As far as the G35; the G37xS is replacing our prelude when the time comes.

Is '10 the widebody?
If not, get an '11.
Seriously, I know the initial purchase price will be higher but it will hold it's value better.
My good friend has a white '11 WRX 5-door. It makes my '04 FXT look like a huge POS in comparison...
YAY for Scott buying a nice car. Go ahead man, spur the economy on. I'm sure Obama will make the payments if you can't afford them...

the widebody started in '11. While I'd prefer it, it's not going to hold be back. I find the 09-10 looks good, and it's not as flashy. I'm 30 years old, I don't need to draw attention to myself...my ball already drag on the ground when I walk.

Tune my subaru please. I'm too lazy.
Currently running a stage 2 rom I downloaded off romraiders forum. Still so rich it's off the scale on my WBO2.
Now that the subaru is no longer our go-to tow vehicle I am probably going to remove the FMIC and build a larger TMIC. Get some spool back. My brother's stage 1? LGT with stock exhaust and TMIC spools soooo much quicker.

The pricing made me laugh though, was a '09 with 50K and a '10 with 25K.
the '09 was priced at $22K online ($25.5K at dealer).
the '10 was priced at $24K online ($26K at dealer)
The 09 had twice the mileage and the body was a bit beat up, there were bad scratches on the side of the driver door, like he opened it against something or he turned a corner too sharp in a parking garage and sideswiped a pole/corner.
The passenger fender had a big dent/pull in it:
there were obvious signs of impact on the front facial, like he hit something parking. and there were two big door dings on the crease of the body lines on the passenger side.
the '10 had no cosmetic flaws that I could see.
Yet even with a car 1 year older, with twice the mileage and tons of cosmetic flaws, they only have an advertised price difference of $2K.
Pretty insane if you ask me, probably needs a good $1K in body work to fix all the issues. I'd offer them $19K for it, but it's black so I dont want it.
The '10 was silver, and I didn't think I want another silver car, but they dont look bad in it. I just don't want black or the charcoal gray. I'd prefer the pearl white or the blue.
I did like that the black one above had new all-seasons on it, over the factory summer only tires.
