I've had a 52" Pioneer Elite plasma for 9 years now, no burn - no lines - still works/looks great.

Mind you, it was close to 20,000$ new in 2000.

That is the reason I waited 9 years before I bought this one. At $800 I would consider it "disposable" in a few years.

Yep, Sears put their TV back on sale this weekend. Bastards ended the $800 sale for about a week before they started it back up again. I probably would have purchased it (Panasonic?) due to the "bigger name" instead of the Sanyo. I haven't looked at the specs or anything but still - $800 isn't bad.

Dish Network will be here on Wednesday to install my $1800 over two years in channels. Heck of a change from the $15/month basic cable that I now have.

I know, its really sad. Bought it brand new Feb 02 2006 and opted for the 400$ 3 year extended warranty. Friend who works at NFM sold it to me told me to throw him under the bus if they'll fix it. Obviously its past the warranty, but its kinda bullshit cause its been ******* up since about November 2008 I just didn't realize it. The thing has an awesome picture for a rear projection DLP.. And still has the SAMSUNG FACTORY installed bulb in it!!

What happens is the tv will be on for ~45 minutes then the picture will freeze. It stays there for 10 - 15 seconds then the TV reboots. Google search of the model number yields similar results from people who made the mistake of buying the same TV. Maybe I'll have better luck in getting mine serviced than most. :(

Well, we are a few days into our new TV project and I am definitely impressed by the picture. The TV looks fantastic and I enjoy showing it to people and telling them that others have said the TV was crap and the picture would be horrible <G>. I am pretty upset that the Dish DVR 722 sucks compared to my Tivos (we have 5 of them). My wife says "oh, you'll get used to it" and "give it time, you'll figure out how to use it" but there is no way their DVR will ever be as good as what I had. I'll probably leave a Tivo hooked up just so I can use it as a TV Guide and then switch back to the dish. We have been working on getting this thing mounted in the wall but I still have some cutting and fabricating to do before the install is completed. I'm not happy that the volume control on the TV does not control the volume on the AV (RCA) jacks on the back of the new TV like our old one did but I will wait until the 12 month warranty is over before I open the TV up and "fix" it.

OK well I have a new panasonic plasma and yes, it does have glare but the picture is absolutely amazing. I play video games too and no burn in.
