In the miata, I have it so my wrists can touch the wheel. Other cars, its usually straight arms to the wheel.

I remember in driver's ed they said to have your chest >11" from the airbag and to test it by holding a sheet of paper in front of you.

they also told you your arms would break off and impale your passenger if you continued using 10-2 hand positions. they actually ******* suggested 4-8...

I can see it now:

Overpaid, under-worked, unintelligent gov't employee:
"Hey everybody, let's over step our boundaries and suggest we give up all car control so we might not break off our arms in the event the airbag goes off. There's zero evidence of this happening, but it sounds like a good idea and people will think we are looking out for them, therefore giving us more power for no good reason. Fear is an awesome motivator."
Underpaid, over-worked, intelligent gov't intern:
"why not make txting illegal? In controlled simulations, studies have shown it causes more accidents than alcohol related incidents"
Overpaid, under-worked, unintelligent gov't employee:
"Know your role son."

I sit as far back and as low as the seat can go. 6'1" I've had the airbags go off in the miata and other vehicles never have I had contact with an airbag except when it raped the sides of my wrists deploying.

Damnit chief! Seal that bilge bay or we are dead!
