Default How the **** to you guys get anything done?

[/rant]
I'm in the middle of like 4 projects...and I can't get anything done, the car looks like ****, still ******* slow, and I haven't had the time to do ******* anything...

-I'm waiting to actually pick up my MS from my friend with the bimmer (he has been busy putting a new motor in his car to get to work and ****...) so I can't do that project yet, and I still don't know how to wire the ****** in, its driving me nuts...

-my rear bumper is still all sorts of fucked up from my accident and I haven't had time to sand/prime the bumper I got from olderguy. I may new the new ABS plastic, metal support and those ******* rubber braces.

-Only thing I need really is to figure out IC piping, oil drain...water feed/drain...make a wastegate bracket...

-waiting on my hub so I can put my steering wheel and new instrument hood on since mine has a hole where some ******* hit it while the top was down...

-my car sounds like ****...its like a ******* honda with a shitcannon on it....*sigh*

And on top of all this, I just came to the realization I don't have a ******* clue what I am doing...
[/end rant]

****, indeed.

To answer the initial question, I plan ahead and do tons of research online before screwing up my car.

just keep plugging, i got a ton of projects myself. I have two miatas, I plan to repaint both with the "$40" paint job in black, the motor is out of the turbo car right now for repairs, the interior is all fucked up on the turbo car, the stock car has annoying squeaks and rattles and it rides high ... the list goes on.

you are not alone. I've been building my mega squirt for almost two months now. An hour here, an hour there. (maybe I should have waited for the pnp!)

I have a turbo and other bits laying on the garage floor, a slider mirror project that isn't finished and a "honey do" list around the house from the wife.

It will all get done, eventually.

Funny as this might sound - it's real easy and don't beat yourself up about it.....

Just don't try to eat the whole elephant all at once.

It took me two years. The car sat for a year first, then I started working on it and a year later it was on the ground. Then 3 months later the cylinder wall cracked. 3 months after that it was back on the ground with another engine. So yeah, time is all it takes. Or money... you could always pay somebody to do it all.

schedule your time like this:

after work/school: come home, go straight to working on car. come in at 10:30pm or when neighbors complain.
do this x5 per week.

weekends: get up at 9, get some coffee, work on car til 6. get food and beers and dont show people your fingernails (dirty as F).

In about a month you'll have: no life, no projects left, a very needy gf.

Order of operations:

1- Purchase Miata.

2- Begin tinkering with Miata.

3- Get tired of always having to ensure Miata is back in running condition by Monday morning.

4- Purchase motorcycle to alleviate pressure of #3.

5- Spend the next year and a half tinkering with Miata at leisurely pace, taking time to post extravagent writeups in MiataTurbo.net from time to time.

6- Run out of things to modify. Declare Miata to be "finished". Realize that since you've spent the past year and a half doing little else that tinkering with car that you have no life.

7- Start looking for another Miata.

Haha, you guys are hilarious!

When I first read the title I thought it meant, "How the **** do you guys get anything done at WORK since youre always posting on here?",lol. Yes, I'm an addict for info.

Back on subject, I ALWAYS spend the first 10-15 minutes of my day-off staring at parts scattered around my garage with a cigarette in my hand, scratching my *****, thinking, "Where the **** do I begin???"

I usually just pick one that I feel like doing and do it until it's finished. Word of advice, do not ever, EVER, pick the projects based on whether or not you can get it done in a day or not (unless you NEED the car to run the next day)What you end up with is getting a bunch of small half-day projects done, but the bigger ones get left in the back-burner because you always think up some OTHER small project because you're too lazy to tackle the big projects, haha.
