There is a guy local to me that has a torsen with the carrier he is willing to sell. He wants $400 and my open with carrier in trade. That sounds steep to me.
What are torsen's worth, just the diffrential and carrier assembly? No rear end housing, drive shaft, axles or any of it.

She act's like she's my wife. It's not the money, it's the time I spend working on the car she cares about. The more upgrades i do, the more time i spend away from her. Not that I'm trying to spend any time away from her, it just works out that way.
I truthfully think the only reason she cares is because she doesn't know how to drive a manual tranny car so she can't drive the miata. Not that I would let her to begin with..

I have tought her how to drive stick on my ranger, it's standard and it went alright. She drove us into a ditch and almost hit a telephone poll in reverse but hey that's how it goes.
IS THIS A GOOD DEAL? I just talked to the guy and he said I can come pick it up whenever. So yeah I am putting my rear in as part of a trade and $400 for a carrier and torsen 1 out of a '94. No idea what they cost otherwise like this. I also will get a 4.10 instead of a 4.3 out of the deal which is nice.

It's a decent deal. You are in effect paying $400 for JUST the torsen diff since you are swapping everything. It isn't a steal for sure, but considering the labour needed to do just the diff swap it makes sense to go about it the way you are.
94 is a TorsenI
Some will aruge that you really want a TorsenII, and the TI has less value
$400 seems to be on the average-to-high price for a TII, but in effect you'd be buying a little lower R&P and saving yourself from having to install.
I'd probably look out for an RX7 LSD and 3.9 R&P which should come to $400 or so together, but be more work.

**** that. I gave $350 for an open rear end with axles, drive shaft, 1.8 rear brakes still attached, and a loose torsen and carrier.

Guess I'll give it the go ahead then. I've looked for some RX7 lsds and they don't pop up cheap often enough for me, plus I would have to rebuild it for the peace of mind and then reset the backlash and all that mess.
So yeah, i pay a little for the convenience of being able to unbolt it in the car and bolting the other one right back in. Should work out alright and it's something I've never done before.
