Son of a bitch! A little rain took out my favorite shade tree. Big oak tree in my side yard finally gave up and fell. That **** is going to be a bitch to clean up. It survived numerous hurricanes, high straight line winds, torrential rains 5 times as bad as these, and this is what does it in...
At least it's not the tree I originally thought it was, it's slightly smaller. Still a big tree. As you can see, my yard becomes a literal lake when it rains hard for very long. Sometimes it can get up to 100 yards across and 4ft deep. Stays for several days after the rain ends. I used to take an aluminum fishing boat out into it when I was younger.

So, just before the Labor day weekend, my computer gets this virus/spyware. Creates a random number.exe file that I can't kill in task manager, which halts and ***** up any antivirus stuff I try. Not only does it stop the scans, but it deletes executable files in the directory so I can't try again. Also redirects the browser so I can't reload stuff. MS SE dead, firewall down, malwarebytes disabled, etc. Nothing I did seemed to help, and I tried a dozen different things to find/kill that process. Couldn't even kill the damn thing in safe mode, or with selective starup. Even tried editing the registry. No luck.
Today I said the hell with it, and formatted the drive. All my saved emails, contact list, favorites and saved****, er important documents are gone like a fart in the wind. I spent all day reloading winXP, all the various patches, and trying to remember all my favorite forum sites.
Good news is that the computer is faster than ever, and everythings working again.
