The boys here in the shop will wreck them in a month, no doubt.

That's a smoking deal. Best I can usually find on 225 NT01 is OnlineTires.com.

Right now $610 shipped to my door for a set.

Thanks mnet... http://www.miata.net/garage/clutch/

My shaft wasn't greased during install, I has the sad.

Once warmed up it's sticking, making engagement a bitch

I am going to have to replace the clutch on my car this year too. Very unhappy about this. I guess the stock clutch is unhappy after 65k miles of unknown abuse from the previous owner, 4 years of autox, and 80-90 prosolo launches (clutch dump at 4500 rpm).

It started slipping at the past few autox events which isn't surprising. If I am too rough with starting out it will slip through 3rd. Probably going with the 949 twin disc when the time comes.

Wife (via text message): "Do you think I should blog?"

Me: "Only if you're willing to broadcast your rants to the people that you're ranting about"

Wife: "Nope. I guess I'm not a blogger"

Initially supportive wife has apparently sobered up or otherwise come to her senses and withdrawn support for said project.

I found a solid deal on a 2012 Zero XU with under 2k miles on it being sold by a guy in Massachusetts. His asking price is $2,500 LESS than the entire budget for my project and will require almost none of the work. He initially thought the battery was toast, but he swapped the BMS from a legitimately dead battery on to the one that came with the bike and the battery seems to have charged up and run. Turns out the pack is fine (well, as fine as a 4 year old EV battery can be) and it just needed the BMS replaced. If anyone else is interested, its up near the top of the For Sale section on ElMoto.net.

My intent was to ride it as-is and evaluate the platform, then maybe build a battery for it if I decide it needed more punch, or harvest its parts to build something else. For those in the know, I believe the controller is a standard off the shelf Sevcon unit, possibly a Size 6 or Size 8, and the motor is a brushless Motenergy that was run nowhere near its peak voltage or amperage capacity due to the limits imposed by the controller due to the design of the battery. Specs here: 2012 Zero XU Electric Motorcycle - Specs || ZERO MOTORCYCLES

I cancelled my 1/2 day off today and the Zero factory tour I signed up for, I figured I didn't want to tease myself. Also cancelled my DMV M1 permit test, the CMSP training course I signed up for next month plus I had to call the guy in Mass and let him know that I'm a giant wiener. I told him I drive a Miata so he should understand.

I'll get over this eventually, I'm just really disappointed right now.

Wife picked up a bolt last night:

I went and swapped out her spare last night at about 10pm in the rain. According to the manal it was ******* 100ft/lbs torque spec on a 12x1.5 lug stud. Does that seem right to you?

Off to Costco this morning to see if we have any time left on the 5 year warranty, otherwise it's time to but a couple new Michelins

"Honey I have a flat, I need your help."

"Sign off on the ebike project and I'll be there in ten minutes."

"No, still no ebike project."

Spanks!

Until last night I'd never seen an owners manual that did not have the torque specs and capacities in the last 2-3 pages of the manual. Good job Ford.
