Splurge. Buy the good rubber. And don't be a lazy *******. That is all.
With good tires and brakes comes the risk of being rear ended...

So, carrying on with the m.net style, I did this:

Third brake light assembly, removed.

Discard bulb and socket, (OK, save for later if you like) and cut wires.
Then install 48 LED panel with adhesive back side. Use a dab of hot glue to tuck wires away.

Cut wires to the 1156 bulb socket adapter, retain plug, discard the rest.
That way you can unplug everything if you need to remove stuff.

Here's the $4 LED flasher thingie.
Blue goes to LED +, black wires to harness - and red to harness +. Simple.

This is everything, soldered and shrinktubed.
Tape wires, flasher neatly (m.net..) and tuck away nicely (m.net, again)

Nice and bright, and flashes in a way that GETS attention. Shortens the following vehicle's reaction time.
It saved me from getting hit more than a few times.

And, here's the link to the LED panel, if anyone's interested.
Get the "warm white" option.

Yes, indeed. And believe me, as soon as I realized that I was, in fact, decelerating rapidly, my eyes went to the rear-view mirror. Saw the taxicab (Prius) swerve into the next lane and lose control.

* not actual taxi.

In the 1950s, George Kelly, in his book on Personal Construct Theory, wrote, "psychological disorder is any personal construct which is used repeatedly in spite of consistent invalidation".

Well I was supposed to be in Phoenix by now but American cancelled our flight and rebooked us for tomorrow. Thank you for wasting one of my vacation days.

You never fully appreciate just how much hair there is on your *** until you have to shave it...

It happens.

I had that happen to me a few years ago coming back from Vegas after a few days out there for work helping teach some schools. I'm glad they brought us back to the gate after beginning to taxi since there had been a hydraulic failure.

A night in a hotel was much better than crashing into the Rockies trying to make the connecting flight in Denver.

The probability of my posting pictures of my clean-shaven *** on a forum inhabited by a bunch of lonely homosexual deviants is rather small.
