Just ran the Honda 5K at the Honda plant in Lincoln, AL. Not quite the performance I had hoped for. A pitiful 37:45. In my defense, it was not what myself or the friends I went with expected. It was 1 mile concrete (a lot of it over a long uphill arch bridge) and the last 2.# miles were on a mixed off road terrain with hills. I was expecting all flat concrete around the plant itself. I really need to start working on my cardio, hardcore like. I was only able to run the first mile before taking a 1/8 mile walk break, then pulled another 3/4 mile run, then another 1/8 mile break, and it got slower from there. I do feel good now though. Got home with plenty of energy and even walked a 2 mile cool down session around the track next to my house.
A big plus to this event... lot of hot women in good shape. One girl there had my tongue hanging out. Maybe 5' 8", with thick, muscular legs and back, and a nice flat stomach. A bit of a man face, but the body alone was enough to oogle. Might have gone to jail over her though, she was probably only 16ish. Quite amazed to see someone in that good of shape. The epitome of perfect conditioning. Anybody else do much running?

What do y'all do to prevent shin splints? Whenever I up my distance I seem to get them, and I primarily run in the woods. I got some different shoes (Asics GT-2160's) and they seemed to help but not 100%.

I'm in good physical shape in terms of the muscles used to run, my legs don't ache all that badly, but will be a little sore tomorrow I'm sure. It's just my cardio is absolutely ****. I don't even ******* smoke, and yet I am gasping for air the last 2 miles. I'm taking my friends advice and starting the Couch to 5K program he has been on. He has lost something like 60lbs in 6 months, and has gone from not being able to run 1/2 mile without having a heart attack, to running a 5K in 30:30, and placing 171 out of around 600 in only about 3 months using the program. In my current shape I can skip ahead to about week 5 of 8, which is about what my body can handle at this point. Hopefully there will be another 5K around here in the next few months and I can try again once I work on cardio for a month or two. I also need some good shoes. I ran in my Nike Cortez '72, in the color scheme of Forrest Gump's shoes. Since I did so poorly, I wish I had had more fun with it and gone as Forrest Gump, the whole outfit. I did however yell to my friends waiting for me at the finish "I just felt like running" in response to them giving me **** all day. I guess a few people got the joke and laughed at me.
My goal is to be able to do a 5K without stopping, and to at least finish with a time of under 25 minutes. One of my other friends there finished in 24:02, pretty respectable. 58th overall.

At lest you where running, tell your friends to get off there *** and see if they can beat you. Anything under a 32:00 for 3 miles is good enough in my mind, and a 25:00 would be very good. I would defiantly recommend the shoes I got, I had some gel nimbus's before them and they were not so good, making sure you got the right size in very important too.

Interesting. It seems facebook will indeed allow one to delete an account. Not that I ever use mine (I can count on one hand the number of times I've logged in), I simply don't want anything with my name attached to that place...not even the temptation to log in.
Anyway.
I'm out. It's been fun.

You could talk about the strong desire of some people to try to rationalize away the existence of God for fear of actually being held accountable for their thoughts and behaviors.

Sometimes I want to punch people on ebay in the ******* throat. I get a $111 offer on a set of new Ford E7TE heads with upgraded dual springs and aftermarket retainers, when I was asking $300 (which is already low in my opinion) the shipping alone is going to be at least as much as the offer. Sure buddy, I'm gonna ******* give you a set of heads, or come out of pocket to ship them to you and lose money. I couldn't say go **** yourself, since I sort of like having good ratings.
