Well, we are just bacteria transportation units after all. There are more bacteria in 1" of your colon than humans that have ever lived on this planet. 6lb to 8lb of your body weight is bacteria. At North Carolina State University, the Belly Button Biodiversity study found about 1,400 different strains of bacteria living in the navels of 95 participants. Of these, 662 strains were previously unrecognized.

^ This.

To answer the question directly, I have driven a current-gen Mustang as a rental car (V6 automatic, naturally.) While it certainly wasn't the worst car I've ever driven, nothing about it endeared me to the point that I'd actually consider purchasing one. It feels like you're sitting in a bathtub, the steering is numb, the brakes feel like the lines contain 50% air, and the suspension did little to either inspire confidence or provide comfort.

I find it difficult to imagine that adding a couple of cylinders, increasing the springrate by 5%, slapping a dead guy's name on the side and raising the price by $30,000 would radically change the fundamentals.

Given some arbitrary amount of money, and a choice between spending it on a new Mustang, a few-years-old Corvette, or being shot in the head, I would pick the Corvette hands-down.

I'll try to keep this from getting too long and I encourage it to be shared.
Last night, Jenn and I decided to go over to ...Taco Mac as they were doing a special on some 11' beers from Southern Tier and Great Divide. We arrived around 9pm, sat at a high-top near the bar and ordered our beers. As we watched a bit of the World Series game and talked, the table that was occupying the area by the front of the place, with about 6-7 people, caught my attention. They had their small child with them who was making all kinds of loud squealing/screaming noises and running around the area. Not a single adult at the table was paying attention nor trying to keep the little brat calm/quiet. Nope, just let him run amok as he pleased. So over an hour later, the child is wondering all over Taco Mac with one of the adults shuflfing along behind him. I do mean literally shuffling along...as in too fat and lazy to pick up his feet. Did I mention the whole table of people were very fat and unattractive people? I mean, they all looked like they were smuggling bowling ***** and frozen turkeys under their shirts.
So anyway.
Eventually our sever, who is serving them as well, can see that pretty much everyone left in the building is taking note of the child's ill-behaviour and is causing a disturbance and finally says something to the fat bastard who is following the kid around. I don't know what was said, but the adult started to get defensive, which caught the attention of the whole table (and everyone in the building) and before I know it, one of the other adults is physically confronting the server and intimidating him to the point where he is stepping back to avoid the man. The server eventually goes back into the kitchen and the man follows him. About 20 seconds go by and the man comes out from the back with the manager in tow. Some words are discussed, but I cannot hear them clearly, but then the manager points to the door and tells them to leave. I immediately start clapping, and Jenn follows (and I believe a few other people). The Fat Family does not like this. The short, round, troll-like woman starts yelling at us something about it being funny and about our children (ummm we don't have any?) and they all eventually leave. Also, WTF are you doing in a bar at 10:30pm with children?

I made sure to let the server and the manager know that they did the right thing and stood by their actions 100%. I also gave them my contact information as a witness because I know these vile people will probably call corp. and complain. The manager also gave me the DMs contact information and I will be sending him an email about the whole situation and how it was handled processionally and correctly by the staff at Taco Mac. People like that really make me sick. In talking with the manager, I was informed that these people are semi-regulars and are always causing a scene/drama up there and always complaining about every little thing they can. Eff these people. I wish people would take a stand against such scum more often.

Taco Mac- 1
Vile fat trashy family- 0

The Fat *****-

Good. They needed to be kicked out.

You know what also grinds my gears? When a fat needy, whiny couple that demands the table set for a party in an area under the air vent where everyone can smell them. I got justice once when I was apart of a 6 person party and notice these two older not-super-fat but still fat sitting at the larger table. The restaurant actually tried to tell me there was a wait when I see the party table (the one that would accommodate us perfectly) was taken up by selfish ********. The establishment seemed like they didnt have a back bone so my friends and I started to make our own complaint that we should be seated and the fat ***** forced to move to a couple's table. Eventually they grew some cojones and started moved those idiots. Of course they super bitched and the manager started to back down, so one of us (the 6' 3"tall dark as hell built black guy named Bill of whom is a combat controller) nicely persuaded them to move, over all they just left. It was a good day.

And I would ask, "What caliber?"

[Doppleganger rant]
Dignity and shame are two valuable cultural ideas that were taught less and less to children from the mid-1960s to the present. Unfortunately many of those uncouth children are now adults. We reap what we sow.

I disdain both improperly behaving children and adults and applaud you for for pointing it out to them. They are so oblivious that they likely think you and the others who applauded are the rude ones.

Long story short, he showed up this morning and I borderline destroyed the office throwing him around inside it. It happened right in front of my dad and afterward my bro and our brazilian came in and threw him out the front door.

I warned him not to **** with me and told him to keep away. Lets just say I think he left feeling a little worse about himself after this morning.

Still waiting to hear how he finished the beating by headbutting a 21" crt monitor and had to have his dad stitch up his forehead.

Nope. No major injuries to myself this time. A few bruises and little cuts from banging into things, but that's all.

At one point his hood flipped over his face and I could've easily beat his teeth out of his mouth, but I decided to keep it minimal to try and avoid any lawsuits against us.

No regrets for what happened. To tell the truth, I feel great about it. Lol

Hmm. Sallie Mae just offered a 0.25% reduction in my interest rate if I sign up for automatic monthly debit. Up to this point, I've tried to avoid letting them take payment automatically, but I don't think I can pass up the savings since I'm pretty committed to just paying the minimum on these student loans until they are dead.

I'm so ******* fucked. I get this laptop from our special tactics guys, and I'm told it needs to get done ASAP because it's for a Senior Master Sergeant and their Commander... And this job wasn't mine originally, I took it off my friends hands as a favor. She tells me it needs to be re-imaged and have VPN configured on it. So I said sure, why the hell not.

Anyway, turned out this computer did not need a new image on it, and I deleted 3 years worth of outlook PSTs and field reports, decorations, EPRs, OPRs, and exercise history.

I just got my *** chewed by the Senior in the most horrible way. Dude literally told me "I am not going to hold any punches, your chain is going to hear about this" then he proceeded to tell me "good luck getting on silver or blue team anymore for missions" (teams the STS guys designate for their missions)

Gonna hope I can still recover totally deleted Data on this Hard Drive.

You didn't back it up before reimaging? Or put his data onto shared storage even???

Our regs state that backing up data is solely the customers responsibility. And AFSOC limits how much we can put on our sharedrives now. This dude had 3 years of this ****, something like 170gbs... no sharedrive could support that.

But I ******* stood there, told him it's my fault, gave no explanation or excuses just said I fucked up and should of checked with him. Meanwhile, my ******* coworker who told me what to do for this computer is nowhere to be seen. So I'll be having a word with her later.

I have the computer in my room now, and I'm running HD recovery... looks promising for the moment. Found quite a bit of files, although the real goodies start when I find a 1.9GB PST....

Good luck DK. Does the reimage not perform a format first? If not, there is an even higher chance of recovery. But, WTF are military laptops not running HDD encryption?

Honestly, this guy isn't too smart if he has such important information not backed up. HDDs fail all the time, even the high end ones in our SANs. I understand though how you can't tell him he is an idiot.

This is an unclassified system... although I suspect he needs to reread the definition of each classification system.... because right now, I'm recovering a fuckload of ****... and there sure as **** seems to be some cross classification documents in here.

Looks like I'm looking at a CMI in this case. for those that don't know what a CMI is

well, I found most of his documents, his PST did get broken up into a bunch of little bits, there are some sections either corrupted or totally missing. But I don't know how much of what he's gonna be keeping once I turn this in to Base Comm... this dude is effed.

Thank god I didn't plug anything into this thing, or I'd be fucked.... even worse than before

Your security is only as good as the **** entrusted with the information. Non classified or not, it should be encrypted assuming idiots like this will forgo protocol.

If it was encrypted.. it would make Comm's just almost unjustifiably harder for any NIPRNET related issues.

When things get to Secret/SIPRNET level of security, encryption is cranked up the yingyang.. until then. It's not a serious threat, so it's not a serious priority.

But what this guy did was pretty blatantly retarded.
Anyway, I found his PSTs and most of his documents.. Recovering them, putting them into a file folder on his desktop, and will be dropping this bish off with my supervisor. This guy probably isn't getting this machine back for 3-4 weeks and his network access will be blocked until this gets resolved...... sucks to be him right now

Encryption, real time AV, reduced privileges, DLP, content filtering, IPS, L7 firewalling all makes our jobs harder to support the end user, but reduce our attack vector and exposure risk. INFOSEC FTW!

Our secretary has laptop encryption and has to deal with all the other **** I listed.
