How (and why) to Ramble on your goat sideways
Sprint is so-so down here, but I'll be gone after the new year.
Is there anything similar to Ting that works on the AT&T network?
ALSO: Pusha just left my place. He's been down here doing some fishing because he's a ******* idiot who doesn't know how to check the weather channel. It's been storming everyday with 4 to 6ft seas. We watched Airheads after we grabbed some of Big Pine's finest chinese food with his friend.

verizon's network in dc metro has made att look like a chump. I never ever have coverage problems. also it works underground on metro.
att got all shitty when there was a semi-large event. no phone calls at inauguration. no phone calls at stewart/colbert santiy/fear rally. no phone calls at baseball games. it was awful. and the contract doesn't guarantee coverage.

You know I wouldn't mind that youtube doesn't let you pause and buffer a video anymore if their videos actually loaded fast. I have a 50Mb/s connection and every damn time I try to watch a video it runs out of buffer. So frustrating.

I had also started experiencing this problem recently. I assumed that something had gotten hosed vis-a-vis the Flash plugin on my PC. Had no idea they'd changed the mechanism deliberately.

Now the videos will load super fast for a certain percentage of the video, then nothing until the buffer runs out. So I'll try and pause it to see if it will load the rest of the way, and nothing, the buffer remains unchanged until I hit play (or it loads a tiny bit more buffer and then stops).
It's extremely annoying. I can't imagine youtube is running out of bandwidth. I heard there was some trick about using the Canadian youtube by adding a 'ca' somewhere and it fixed the speed issues, but I have no idea.

You're all insane. It still pre-loads. I use the Magic Actions plugin (it autopauses the video and other flaky stuff) and the little light gray bar marches to the right. But it stops somewhere between 30 and 50 seconds from the current position. Seems to change a little depending on the video. A 32 second video loaded completely. A 5.5 minute video loaded about 48 seconds.

It used to be that you could start a video, pause it, and it would buffer completely. This allowed those of us who have slow, crappy connections to watch a whole video at once, rather than watching 30 seconds, then pausing, then 30 more seconds, etc. It also allowed seamless "Rewind" without having to re-buffer.
Bringing back up the phone provider stuff.........what are your thoughts on Straight Talk? Someone had mentioned it to me before, saying it used Verizon and AT&T towers.
I currently have AT&T prepay and have been thinking about switching to Straight Talk if I ever get a smart phone.

I use straight talk. Where I live, I have no issues. I purchased used AT&T iphones and just stuck the straight talk sim card in. Only issue is my data connection sometimes get blocked by AT&T because I am a secondary customer. I just restart the phone and everything is fine again. It happens every couple of weeks, more often when i am in larger population areas.
I'm on Straight Talk. AT&T's network, but I believe your choice is AT&T or T-Mobile, unless you buy a Straight Talk phone that works with Verizon (CDMA unlocked phones are much harder to get or impossible to get, plus it's much easier to just plug in a new Sim card).
In ~6 months now, I've only had 1 issue. Because Straight Talk is a piggy-back provider, my service basically disappears in EXTREMELY high-pop areas. During the Indy 500 I had no signal... but that is 300k people in the same place, so anything short of that you should be OK.

Laughed really hard at this when it came on the news last night.
"Judging by his obituary, Scott E. Entsminger would happily spend eternity cheering on the Cleveland Browns. But before he passed away July 4, the lifelong fan couldn't resist one shot at the team that failed to live up to his expectations.
In his obituary, published Sunday in the Columbus Dispatch, the 55-year-old hilariously requested "six Cleveland Browns pall bearers so the Browns can let him down one last time."
