Haven't moved the NB out of the garage yet.

Though, they haven't plowed my street yet either.... Yay for poverty city.

It was -8 all day and now its dropped to -10 with a wind chill down between -30 and -40. Anyone in Florida have a spare bedroom they want to rent for a few weeks?

Brobee, it's not much better here in Jacksonville. We'll see 21 tonight. To a Floridian, that's like -50.

Well, they said the low was going to be -10F tonight. But it's already -15F and seems to keep falling...

Who knows.

Garage heater is almost running constant, but the house heater isn't. This new house seems to be insulated very well.

Oh, yeah. I guess I need to switch the home thermostat to heat.

Late school opening means no damn school buses adding to the commute. I had a very calm commute this morning.

Those ******* stop at every goddamned house now. I used to have to walk to the post office where they picked us all up at once instead of making twenty five individual stops. Getting stuck behind the wrong bus can double my commute time

My favorite part is the caravan of SUVs that line the kiss and ride lane and the next 10,000' feet of neighborhood streets.

I guess it's illegal to overtake them while they're stopped?

Fresh SSD and laptop came in. I *hate* installing OSes. I always seem to **** up something. I was so close to just ordering a fresh W7 dvd w/ key since I was done browsing the millions of ISOs trying to find a working one.

Once again my retardation for anything non-mechanical shows itself

You'd likely get dragged out of the car by a German shepherd and tazed for that.

I'm on a mission to not run the heat, but did set the auto level to 63F. It got to 65F last night.

Luckily, it will be back in the high 70s - low 80s by the weekend.

For all of those northerners thinking we won't be nearly as smug come summertime, think about the differentials.

NYC vs Orlando
-2F vs 37F (with wind chill) in the winter
90F vs 100F (with humidity) in the summer

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be much less smug (about the weather) at any point in the year.

I think in 2012 Oklahoma had the highest average temperature of anywhere in the country for the year. 105-110 during the day in the summer(something like 48 out 50 days in June/July/August that year), not below 86-87 at night. A/C runs 21-22 hours a day in our older home.

We've also been dealing with snow well below freezing temps, but will still have multiple days well above 100, and we still have humidity here.

Throw in the tornadoes.......

Yeah, we are only still here because the wife makes F----- good money and moving means her starting over from $0.

OK, SSDs are jizz. ~7 seconds from BIOS screen to a usable desktop. Why did I not do this before?

To be fair, a lot of that is just due to the OS still being new and clean. It'll slow down over time as you start to pile DLLs and drivers and TSRs and startup scripts and services into it, just as it does with the spinny thing.

But they're still cool.
