Where water once flowed, there’s nothing. The only thing coming out of the faucets in Nicole Hill’s ███████ home is the squeaky sound of empty spouts. Her plight is like thousands of other residents in ███████ who’ve seen their water turned off for non-payment. I love reading shit like that. See if you can guess, based on the massive sense of entitlement, which city Nicole Hill and her many illegitimate children live in? Hint: it's not a city which is widely known for its unusually low crime rate, percentage of residents on welfare, etc.“It’s the worst experience I've ever been through,” said Hill. “I just cannot imagine that there’s thousands of people right here in the city that are going through this and that so many people see nothing wrong with it. They feel like, ‘Well if you didn’t pay your bill, then you shouldn’t get water.’” I mean, the nerve of those people, to claim that just because you don't pay for something, that is somehow a reason why you shouldn't be allowed to take it. |

I have some related questions: 1. will it pass emissions and safety inspections? 2. is it worth replacing it with a header and finding some solution for catalytic conversion so I can pass future emissions? 3. your mom? |
i'd probably pass inspection if it wasn't noticeable.
emissions, if it passed emissions still... can't you just wrap it in one of those exhaust leak wraps temporairily? |
Why wouldn't they think free municipal water and sewer service was a right?
They already get free food, cell phones, and medical care. It's a logical extension. |
Just sayin', in some parts of PA, your heat utility can't be shut off during winter months. Probably cheaper to eat the cost, rather than deal with hypodermic people at the clinic.
I get not liking paying out to those perceived as "free-loaders" in the system. However, the more you strip necessities (Heat, Water, Shelter) away, the worse you make the future for the kids stuck with bum parents in those poor areas. You can save money now, but perpetuate the cycle of poverty. Having people dying in the streets, or living in shanty towns, hurts a city. It lowers the standard of living, and can decrease the likelihood of business investment. Pay to change the oil every 5k, or put in a motor at 75k. That's just my unpopular opinion. |
Give someone something for free and they will never appreciate it as if they were to have worked / paid for it themselves.

I guess I'm a softie. :eek3: Water, shelter... IDK guys. Shutting of a families heat, regardless of their payment status, in 10* weather seems ridiculous. If they freeze, you can never get them to pay. Cutting off access to clean drinking water.... that's problems african nations have. We live in a first world nation. The whole "Poor People Get Cell Phones" issue is carryover of a Regan era program, that installed hard lines in low income areas. Now, cell phones are cheaper. I fully get the frustration. We work hard for what we have. So why should others reap benefits without working for them? I can agree with that feeling, and I feel the same way when someone tries to have me work on their car, in exchange for food stamps. Just because someone uses a government program, doesn't mean their a free-loader for life. Some people bounce back and forth, on and off. Some people dip their toe in once, and get back on their feet. Others are on it for life. No denying that. But how do you sift those people out? How do you separate legitimate problems or disabilities from freeloaders? That's the answer I never hear. EDIT: Damn spell check. :) |
I think the bigger question is, how do we change the minds and attitudes of those who don't care to pay $1 for 1000 gallons of water? How do we get these people (children and adults alike) to achieve more? How do we get these people to stop shitting where they eat?
I mean, that is what you want right? Maybe it isn't. We need these people to understand that they need to achieve for themselves, not rely on others. Sadly this gets us into the snowball effect. A conversation that i don't care to get into. |

Why bother sifting them out? Evolution and natural selection are not limited to biology; societies and civilizations are also subject to their whims. Some flourish and then collapse from within. Some are conquered and die. Some adapt and grow. Whether by choice or by defect, neither the lazy freeloader nor the severely disabled are likely to contribute directly to the growth of their society. And that culture which, for reasons of superstition such as "social responsibility" or "morality," encourages the continued existence of those elements within it most detrimental to its own vitality contributes to its own extinction. [/strict cynic] |
politics violaion warning.
I propose giving out free bootstraps instead of food stamps. I mean just because you're poor, uneducated, raised by horrible parents, racially unpopular, living in a bad neighborhood, etc. doesn't mean you can't just get a job and turn your life around with some hard goddamn work! |
