Y8s I am posting from my phone and knew it failed right after I hit submit. I tried to get brianeack to fix it but he was lazy. The Datsun made it about 6.5 hours before rear driver side drum brake died. Hopefully we get it fixed tonight and I get to take the beast back out tomorrow.

Some 4clyinder, not sure exactly. Manual transmission, we do most of the track in 4th gear.

It is a RACE TRUCK!!!! I have proof of me being out on track with it. We ended up 48 out of 77 entries for total number of laps. I am honestly impressed it did so well, with so little prep, and then managed to be driven back home to NoVA.

Asside from Luke, who seems to be banned ATM, anyone on here know about working for Honda Performance Development? I'm talking to a recruiter about a software engineering position with them. Good company to work for? Avoid them like the plague?

I like programming, and I like racing, so it seems like a dream job. Just want to make sure they aren't a horribly company to work for or anything.

My $0.02, having spent many years working for large corporations in the tech sector:

Assuming you are fairly young (say, under 30), it doesn't matter if they are a horrible company that forces their employees to swear an oath of allegiance to Satan. It's Honda, which means you'll probably be in a good position to make valuable industry contacts, and any kind of engineering job with them is gonna look damn good on a resume.

thenuge26 05-04-2015 02:46 PM

Thanks Joe, that was my thought also.

It's also a contract position (though a 'long term indefinite contract' whatever that means) which makes me a bit nervous coming from my cushy lots-o-benefits full time job right now. But the opportunity is just too good to not take a chance on.

Sounds like I'd be programing for this thing.

If I sneak in on the weekends and start setting faster laps than the pros, that means they have to give me some IRL seat time right?

The grocery store only had super-green bananas, so I left them on my porch in the sun to ripen when I got home.

I forgot about them overnight and now they're gone.

So, online dating sucks, I'm finding it too much like the club scene in my 20's. It doesn't work for us short guys.

So I'm on okcupid and message this girl who lives where I used to live/my parents and brother currently live. I ask her how long she's been there, maybe we were in the same high school class. Her response? "All my life...are you really 5'4" My response? "Yup"

That'll be the last I hear from her.

thenuge26 05-05-2015 11:05 AM

In software dev we call that 'fail fast'. It sucks, but it's better to know right away than to waste your time on something that was never going to work in the first place.

concealer404 05-05-2015 11:09 AM

Message her again after a few days with "Oh, i thought you were talking about my dick. Yes, it's really 5 feet, 4 inches long."

Bitches love comedy.

If you're only using free sites this will likely not end well for you. Paid sites usually have people who are more serious about finding something real and tend to be a lot less flaky as well. The pay barrier prevents people who are just roaming because they are bored from joining. Not saying it will fix all of your problems but it will probably make the search easier.
