Brought some stuff to work today to measure and sketch in AutoCAD. I only have AutoCAD LT and Inventor LT at work, but I have AutoCAD mechanical + electrical, and inventor professional and HSM pro at home (go figure). Unfortunately I have to be at work today.

My "boss" is leaving at noon today, and I have to go home to take a form for our new house rental to my girlfriend to sign and return/scan. I will then return to work, scan the form, and then leave to go to urgent care and then the chiropractor. I work for 2 more hours today, maximum.

I typed up my letter of resignation this morning, signed it, sealed it in an envelope, and stuffed it in my general manager's box. As far as I am aware, my "boss", the GM, and the plant manager are clueless about me quitting. The GM returns from vacation on monday the 4th, and she will shit bricks. I had to look up what to include in a resignation letter. I couldn't think of anything positive to say in the "thanks for the opportunities" or transition sections so I said the minimum. I am transferring all of my personal work files to the central engineering drive because it seems to be normal practice to just kick people out when they give their 2 weeks notice. Something about preserving company secrets or whatever. The only secret we have is how we make money with such a bunch of lazy bitches in the shop and such weak management.

So now that my files are done copying, it's time to pick through my stuff and take home what I want to keep, and clean out my email.

I bet that felt good. In a way, I envy you.

Serious question: why clean out your work email? If anything that makes it easier for us IT folks to figure out what you didn't want the management to see. Standard practice for us is to recover everything deleted in the last 30 days from users who were fired/quit.

But seriously, good jorb sir. Best of luck moving forward :bigtu:

When I quit the last mismanaged shop I worked for, I were the IT folk in charge of the domain.

Ever been asked to change the credentials of your e-mail to lock yourself out of it before you copy your e-mails out. Or "how can we be sure you aren't keeping company data" after they had me copy thousands of proprietary physical prints when they were recalled, for nefarious reasons.

lol

Good luck, there's plenty of good work out there still!

wow, that was quick... 2015 came and went in a hurry!

I work in engineering and only work on putting tiny broken bullshit parts back together or making drawing for that. None of it is proprietary or secret. The only emails I removed were ones between my girlfriend and I where she was sending me papers to read or sign and rescan to her for our new place in GA or stuff she thought I'd find funny. So not really a clean out, but I had asked my gf to stop sending them to my work email and just send it to my gmail account and she didn't listen.

Militia takes over Malheur National Wildlife Refuge headquarters | OregonLive.com

Embarrassing as shit. Nevada crazies come up and take over federal land in oregon.

Yeah, that story does leave out some important details though. Seems like quite a mess overall.

Exactly the reaction the MSM wants. I guess on the surface, it looks like what you stated. If you go beyond the MSM and dig a little deeper, you'll find a different story. I havent watched the full video yet but it sheds some light.

Anyone know the approximate weight of a completely bare NA with windshield only?

aidandj Jan 5, 2016 12:43 PM

About 3 hoosier hookers.

Monk Jan 5, 2016 01:05 PM

Ok, so one less than my limit. Thanks!

My work's DNS is down, and everything internal is failing :likecat:

Oh well, back to boom beach :bigtu:

I can't wait to play a racing sim with this. Super excited about VR in general :fanboy:

I got all of that on lock. But man, i have no idea where i would find 2 extra USB 3.0 ports.

I guess i'll have to get a PCI-E card? Then again, i don't plan on dropping 600 bones for one. If it was $200 less or i didn't have stupid automobile and motorcycle hobbies i probably would.

Really interested to see what the future of VR holds, i'm sure prices will come down eventually.

deezums Jan 6, 2016 08:15 PM

You might look, many motherboards have internal usb 3.0 headers as well as the rear panel ones.

Too rich for me though. I just want a cheap eye tracking doodad I can wear on my hat. Saw it on youtube sim rig once, never able to find it again...
