I heard that they still make it, but its not legal for on-road use. The last time I looked into it the rock crawler and sandrail guys seemed to have a source, but that may have just been old stock.

I had read speculation that someone had finally read the USDOT regulations and realized there was a spec for color, and it was supposed to be clear or close to it. I didn't bother to read it myself so

Right but the color change was really convenient, especially when working alone with the Motive bleeder. :P

I'll just order a couple bottles of TYP200 from TSE today and be done with it. Thanks goys

Last I looked it was also old stock. I did a decent search (more than just amazon and stuff) and really couldn't find a good source. People who can get it are either not sharing there sources, or you really just can't get it anymore.

I also wouldn't really want old stock of brake fluid. it has a shelf life.

Speaking of old fluids being horded, does anybody here want some R-12? I've been lugging it around for two decades now, and it's doubtful I'll ever use it.

ATE always made both the blue and amber stuff. The amber is "Type 200", and it's identical except for not having dye in it. The idea was you could alternate between them so that you knew when the system was flushed.

AIUI, they'd been ignoring the color part of the spec for years until finally someone in the government noticed and made them stop importing it. I think you can still get it in Europe.

As far as R12 goes -- no, my '93 car has been converted to R-134a so I have no use for it. That stuff is valuable though, I'm told the going rate is something like $100/can.

The problem with Superblue was that it said "DOT" on the can when it wasn't actually approved. I have a couple of cans hoarded but they're so old I'm not sure they are worth using at this point. I just run Typ200.

If you wait long enough to flush your brake fluid the old stuff comes out brown and the new stuff is yellow

The fluid that came out of the FD looked like swamp water. I think it might have been original.

Hey, I wonder if I could sell it on Miata.net. "Factory fill, original equipment, installed-in-Hiroshima brake fluid, vitally important for anyone who wants to correctly restore an early Miata".

If you mean black by swamp water, I'm pretty certain you will be needing a new master cylinder pretty soon.

A disgusting brown, but not quite black.

Apparently punctuality is not a requirement for the oval office.

They are 4 minutes late already.

Speaking of brake fluid and colors, are there any dyes that are safe to add to brake fluid? The one compelling reason I have seen for super blue is so you can do a fluid swap at each brake job and know for certain all the old stuff has been flushed. (Alternate blue with something else).

For comparison purposes, I am paying about $65/month (with a 2 year contract) for a Note 4 with a 1000 min/4 Gb/1000 SMS package.

Let me know how this goes. I've been trying to get my wife on a 5x & fi for about 6 months but she resists. I should have never bought her that Nokia 301.2

October 4th is Google's device announcement. If there is a 7" tablet I'm buying one. My Nexus7 (2012) is essentially useless at this point, and the Nexus 9 I stole from my boss is sooooo god damn big. I'm no size queen, 7" is my sweet spot. I'm also hoping for an update to the 5" phone, but that's not as critical.

I think i timed it perfectly. There are rumors about them dropping the nexus devices and only selling the pixel ($649). But there are other rumors about a nexus price drops.

Google has a 15 day price drop policy. The way I see it is a win win situation. If the drop the nexus i win because I got one. If they drop the price I win because google will refund me the difference.

I pay $50 a month for unlimited data, unlimited texts, and a bunch of minutes. Were on a legacy nationwide family plan though.

Does that $50 include the device, or is jut for "airtime"?

My Note 4 is included in my plan.

People still pay for finite amounts of call time and texts?

And finite amounts of data?

My Nexus 7 was a great tablet, but it's usefulness ceased around the time I picked up the Nexus 5 - the slightly larger screen didn't justify the need for carrying around an additional device. When the battery went kaput on the Nexus 7 after a couple years, I picked up a Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet (10.1") and I've found that I use it far more than I ever used the Nexus 7. When the Nexus 5 wore out in June, I picked up the 6P - I was trying to hold out for the replacement to the 6P, but the power button started failing, and repeated bashings to fix the power button caused a critical failure of the SIM tray.
