So I just posted an ad on CL offering to repair most anything on a Miata. I'm slightly nervous about just going and repairing someone's car whom I don't know, so what should I watch out for?

I've requested that before I go and start work, I require a picture of the car in the workspace with their email on a piece of paper so that I know they're legit.

People who can't afford to take their car to a mechanic and want you to fix it for free.

People who tried to fix it themselves and fucked things up worse, but won't accept this explanation.

People who troll craigslist looking for folks offering to come to their house and fix their car, with the intention of raping them and then selling them to slave traders.

People whose lawyer will call you back six months after you changed their wiper blades to inform you that you were somehow responsible for their brakes going out which resulted in a crash, and offering to settle out of court for only $200,000.
