The last time, I was #4, and the prosecutor kicked me out during the peremptory challenge phase. I genuinely have no idea why, aside from the fact that the accused (inappropriate sexual contact with a minor) had dark skin and a name that ends in Z. Her loss for not knowing the difference between Cubans and Mexicans, and recognizing that the two groups, as a matter of broad generalization, would just as soon kill one another as breathe. I'd probably have voted to hang him (yes, yes, I know that sentencing is the judge's job. It's a figure of speech.)

Aside from any false ideas about doing his/her civic duty, I don't know why anyone would show up to jury duty. It's not like the summons are sent via registered mail and we all know how often regular mail gets lost...

I was thinking that they're a much sounder engineering implementation of the port that lets you plug into the matrix. Sit in a holding cell for part of the day, then bond myself out for fucking $300. By the time this is all over, I will have to pay probably between $600-$800 because my tag sticker either fell off or was stolen, and I missed a court date. It's a racket.

I know, I just think it's a bit ridiculous. I'm only human, we all make mistakes. With a busy life, sometimes you just forget things, especially considering it was for something as simple as a tag sticker. It just didn't cross my mind. Now it's going to cost me that much. And most places for minor infractions like this, the FTA can be waved and you can be rescheduled a court date one time only, for an additional fee. My shit hole, backwards redneck city is one of the only ones in the area that haven't passed this yet.
