Than it must be my shitty work network that keeps funking it up. Go figure.

NA6C-Guy 08-01-2011 02:08 PM

Refresh my mind, it's been a while. 99-00 intake manifold or 01+ better/make more power?

Braineack 08-01-2011 02:10 PM

99-00 IM with '01 head.

NA6C-Guy 08-01-2011 02:13 PM

Oh? I was thinking it was the other way around, the 99-00 head was preferred with the 01+ manifold... I thought the VVT was shit, or do most people "de-VVT" the head? Porting the same between the two heads?

Braineack 08-01-2011 02:14 PM

VVT is THE shit.

VVT swap in your future?

Doppelgänger 08-01-2011 02:49 PM

VVT is going to be more desirable now that there is a cheaper way to manipulate it that is not a $2k Hydra.

If I were to convert to a 1.8L it would have VVT, yes.

engine swap.

Braineack 08-01-2011 03:33 PM

you want to fund it?

buffon01 08-01-2011 04:06 PM

I saw Captain America FUCK YEAH.. and I liked it. I can't wait for The Avengers :D

mgeoffriau 08-01-2011 05:05 PM

Seriously, Amazon? Supplies are so limited that I'm only allowed to order 2 micro-USB car chargers, and 3 would just be totally unfair to the rest of the world who would have to suffer without their Motorola rapid-rate chargers?

NA6C-Guy 08-01-2011 06:17 PM

What would one have to do to use the VVT system in a non VVT car? What options are there to control it? I don't suppose Mega supports it yet, or ever will?

Fuck yeah, my a/c "fix" last week did NOT work. 111 heat index today and I can fucking tell it. A/C on max and my fucking balls and ass are swampy as anything. Shirt soaked, sticking to my back, not cool! Bringing it in the shop this Saturday and hooking it up to the machine and putting on a new dryer. Better fucking fix it! Only another month of really really hot weather, but that is enough to be worth my time and $30 to fix it.

DIYAutoTune made a box. Standalone or works with MS. AEM is the other cheap option.

Both are better than the overpriced upside down box from Hydra.

Closed-loop VVT control (for all engines, not must the Miata) is on the development list for MS3, though I don't believe it's actually been implemented in a working manner yet.

Until then, DIYAutoTune offers the VVTuner, which is a sort of piggyback device that slips inline between the cam/crank sensors and the MS, and operates the VVT control solenoid directly: http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/v...led-p-459.html

It's closed-loop, fully mappable, etc., Everything works as though it were a part of the MS, it's just an external box with a separate data connection. Documentation: http://www.diyautotune.com/vvtuner/index.htm

Hmm, Intredasting.

I may have to look into a 01+ then. I'm ready to jump at the Miata with tools to strip the bastard clean. Counting down the days until I get my new daily driver and demote the Miata to filthy whore status. Strip interior bare, remove anything not absolutely required to be road legal or run, a/c stuff, heater core, ect. New suspension (again), rebuild (again), new trans, rebuild rear end, hard top and remove soft top frame. I'm actually going to be doing an n/a build, for now anyway, I have decided turbo is just not the path for me with this car. Too many common issues that tend to pop up, and with my luck, I'll have to deal with all of them. Run 11:1 84mm pistons, ported head, do the exintake swap or possibly with more research, some other cam, possibly custom grind, typical other bolt-ons for n/a power, MS for tuning, new trans, better clutch, other shit. When and if I bore of this, I will start acquiring parts for a turbo build.

Y8s and I are both running Closed-loop VVT with our MS3x. It works pretty well, but Ken and James are still working on the PID controls to make it better.

So what do you do when your neighbors are loud? Call the White House!!!

Fucking retards. Proof that some things just need to be taken care of on your own. I'd be liable to burn their house down lol

Braineack 08-02-2011 12:58 PM

What do you do when your hotel charges you .75c for a newspaper?
