Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Well I was driving around doing errands today, and decided to stop by the Hyundai dealership to see if I could test drive one of the new Turbo 2.0 litre Hyundai Genesis coupes. After a bunch of salesperson BS, and letting the salesman drive my miata (he kept saying "holy ****" after i told him to rev to 7000), he let me take the car for a spin. I must say, I was very impressed. Interior was super comfy and quiet, car handled great (very predictable), the rear end can come out with traction control off and can be pulled back together super quick, and I think they look great. A few things that surprised me though was the lack of any engine or turbo noise whatsoever. It was strange hammering the car and really hearing no engine/exhaust noise. The 3.8 V6 makes a ton of aggressive noise, but they dropped the ball on the 2.0. There's also a dead zone when at very low throttle. I think they did it on purpose so it feels like a surge when driving. I'm also guessing the car is equipped with a super heavy flywheel, because if you get the car around 4500rpm and up, when you let off the gas, the revs just stay there for quite a while before they drop.
I also had to stop my self from lol'ing when the salesman kept telling me they run 17lbs of boost at like 4000rpm, and go up to 24lbs... I'm pretty sure the thing was probably pulling only about 10 lbs, but I'd like to see it running about 17. Anyways, looks like the car has tons of potential, and I'd definitely consider buying one. First thing I'd do would be get a 3" downpipe and exhaust fabbed up, a nice electronic boost controller, and a AEM F/ic.
Anyways, thought some of you might be curious about the car. I know I was.

There is something about the 2.0 T exhaust as well. I think there is a kink in it to clear a brace. Car and Driver just had a write up about this car and the V6. Apparently that 2.0T is from the same family as the EVO. The pistons and mechanicals can be swapped into this motor(unconfirmed). Also, an executive from Hyundai mentioned that the ECU is easily crackable. This car has some serious after market potential.

C&D's was a 2.0T Track Model
3380lbs
It needs moar powah, but it will be there in the after market. 300hp sounds reasonable and realistic for a modified unit. That isn't too shabby.
Aside from the Lotus' models, most cars are heavy pigs now. Chalk that up to us Americans liking the quiet interiors, and the US Gov regulations on safety.
No, what is a hideous, ugly *** car is the new Porsche Panamera. I swear, from some angles it looks like a station wagon.

I drive the **** out of my car, so I don't care at all if anyone drives it. I also saw this as a golden opportunity to drive the genesis sort of strings free. He drove my car, I drive his.

It would be amazing if the ECU was easily reprogrammable. This car could make awesome power, and it's a fantastic chassis.

That 4k lag is most likely the drive by wire throttle. My lancer does the same thing occasionally. It doesn't like being put in neutral or the clutch going in over 4k, the computer doesn't know what to do.
