I was hit by an uninsured motorist in a Maxima I owned a few years ago.
My understanding is that your uninsured motorist coverage takes care of you. It did me. Then, they sue the pants off that person that hit you. They being your insurance company. That is assuming that the person who hit you has any assets to sue for. In my case I'm pretty sure the person who hit me was poor as a church mouse.
Glad to hear you're ok.
I hope the insurance company fixes your car to the condition it was before. If it has frame damage talk to them about loss of value if you haven't already. You should be reimbursed for that as well.

Damn Braineack sorry to see that. Why is it that 90% of the people who cause accidents are the ones who have no insurance, and half of them are too broke to sue anyways. (Like SchoonerPaul said.)
I take it VA does not have a required insurance law? Every state should..

seriously... the police don't seam to give a **** about enforcing the laws these days. they prefer to just be a pain in the *** for going 2 mph over the speed limit, or for not having a front license plate.
we employ these guys, yet we can't fire them for being this way... that's fucked up.
you're tax dollars at work gentlemen.

You think the insurance company went into business yesterday?
If you didnt opt to go to the hospital right there and then for evaluation you pretty much gave ur up right to sue the insurance company later if you develop any type of pains. Why? Because how could you prove that ur newly developed pain was a result of the accident and not ur own wrong doing the days after the accident and ur supposed claim?
Insurance companies wisened up a while ago, its harder to prove that **** nowa days.

Its like that lady that rear ended me in her Avalanche. The first words out of her mouth were "I ain't go no insurance, this is my boyfriends truck".
I called the Detroit police, they said a 3 hour wait. I was pulled over for a license plate light being out...and yet I can't get a cop for a uninsured motorist who just hit me.

Sam,
You are right, they aren't dummies. They are smart enough not to fight paying for a couple doctor bills and some massage therapy. Significant injuries like a bulged disc or fractures hurt right away. Most people get to a doctor quickly with those injuries. Torn muscles, stretched ligaments and over extended joints may feel a little sore when the accident happens but get worse with time as you ignore them. Going to the doc a week or so after an accident isn't unusual or unexpected. I'm not saying sue the insurance company for a phony claim, I'm saying milk it a little. They aren't going to make any noise over paying for a couple massages a week for a month or so. They want to make you happy. If you are happy with them it's more likely they won't have to pay out the ol "pain and suffering" money.
Like I said, find a hottie and get rubbed!
