Default I am a ***

I had a small electrical issue, and some smoke. I think I've got everything sorted, aside from the two pieces in question. Its a distributor car...ftl.

How can I check the vw igniter and the msd "blaster" coil to be sure they are functioning properly...and yes I own a multimeter.

Thanks for the help.

i'd think the easiest way is to pull all the spark plugs and see if they all spark

but I still have 2 parts, 1 part, or none may be fucked...the problem could like with the ecm or the hall sensor (theoretically). I'd rather not arbitrarily spend $100 when something is not broken.

Right now I'm not getting spark from the coil wire to the dizzy.

check the resistance there should be specs on the web somewhere. also +1 for check spark to the wires. If the distributor is not geting jiuce in. try a wire with a plug on it directly off the coil this will spark it if the coil is working properly i believe since the ecm sends out the spark signal and the distributor just tells it wich cylinder to fire on GL man.

well, I kept getting good readings, but no spark. So I broke apart the igniter...it was obvious, now I have a new one...and subsequently a daily driver again. Yeah!!!
