Default I'd like to rip Bill Gate's nuts out and jam them in his mouth!

Been trying for 2 days to allow my XP machines to access the files on my new Vista laptop. This is some pretty frustrating stuff! Yes, been searching everywhere but most of the tips I am seeing say to click on stuff that isn't even on my screen. Anyone know how to do it?

Oh brother... good luck with that I heard nothing but **** about vista. I remember hearing that vista requires upgrades of the machines it controls due to compatibility issues. Meaning that if you 'upgraded' to vista then all your hardware should be upgraded in order to be able to respond to vista, but Im computer handicaped so

Sorry man, not true.

Shouldn't be much of an issue, did you check little **** like make sure you're in the same workgroup? Can your XP machines at least see the Vista machine on the network?

I've finally managed to share individual folders but not entire drives. What a pain in the ***. What the hell do I know, I've only been running networks for 20 years and was selling usenet access from a 10 foot satellite dish in my back yard back in 1991. A couple of years later I had a massive 56K internet connection and was parting that out to people over 2400 baud modems. Damn!

I had the same issue, I think i cured it, or at least my Vista machine has access out to my XP machines. I'll double check.

What I posted came from my Physics Proffesor. He's really into computers, in a side note during lectures while talking about capacitors he mentioned a costumer that requested 150 or so computers. As part of the request he wanted XP because Vista would not recognize the hardware used by XP. Im by fat not a computer conosieur, however it was a paint in the f-ing *** trying to connect to MS with a laptop runnign Vista.

Okay, I'm able to do it by doing this:

Make sure the vista machine in on the XP network, it's usually MSHOME not WORKGROUP.

Under control panel, under 'network and sharing center' make sure 'file sharing' is on and I turned password sharing off.

Then I simply went to the folder I wanted shared, right clicked and chose 'share...' and added my main user account.

Just opened my XP machine to the My Network Folders and a folder called 'Users on Vista-PC' popped up. Once I clicked in it had a folder with my username, then inside that my shared folder.

As much as people hate him, he gives away a ton of money to charities. Plus, it is not like he personally coded Vista.

Fun fact: Bill Gates earned over $3000 per minute [$50/second] since Microsoft was created. Spending 5 seconds to pick $100 off the floor is literally not a good use of his time.

Except that that money is almost created residually, and without just his effort. So if he picked up that $100 bill he would have made an extra $100. And even though he's such an evil guy, he probably would have given that $100 to cancer research of some other evil enterprise.

Nice try, go home.
