Are you using studded tires? Looks like you're getting good traction. When I last rode in the snow I ended up on my backside when I hit a root. I didn't even know what happened.

They are studded. Homemade used ones I bought at least 7 years ago. I'd love something a bit more aggressive but these work ok for now.

Down south redneck ATV action checking in...
2008 Kawasaki Brute Force- Snorkled all air intakes for engine, breathers and belt into pod on the handlebars 2" lift 30" tires rewired everything to marine grade waterproof stuff. The connectors on this thing were molex. Like in your desktop PC. That didn't work out so well. You can see I had finished one HID light retrofit, but not the other.. Radiator and oil cooler with fan from GSXR now sitting flat on the front rack, instead of up like a billboard. WOrks great that way, and there's no loss of visibility.. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ad-you-132-jpg |

(boner inducing truck pictures) NP205 transfer case, no? The 203 in my '79 K5 was chain driven... the 208 in my '84K5 was the aluminum chain jobby, and wouldn't put ip with that kind of abuse... Split rims? What are those? How come my attachments don't go fullsize? |

Had another trip this weekend. Great weather and grip was phenomenal. Guy standing down below give you some perspective to see how steep these ledges are.

Been way too long since I've gone on a proper dirt bike ride. Here are some pics from my last real ride: February of 2009 in Mesquite, NV. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1428433435 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1428433435 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1428433435 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1428433435 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1428433435 I'm the one on the right, for what it's worth. |
no hard knobs with the kawi for a few weeks while it gets a replate and new piston.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...fc4e41ef4736c3 it has over 300hrs on it, it ingested a little dirt, reeds are worn to hell making it run super rich, power valve shaft seals leaking splooge like crazy, and the power valve linkages wore just enough to cause the piston and powervalve to make contact. it still ran well and had 140psi of compression (acceptable range for this motor is 91-151psi). http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...pswocvkuad.jpg |
Send it to Eric Gorr for some porting with that plating. He's supposed to be one of the premier guys in that area.

i would except i like the porting exactly the way it is. he already cut the head for pump gas and a perfect squish, he does great work. eric doesnt do plating, he sends his cylinders to the same place i do. |

anyone ever curious what the taper and wall thickness look like in an 1-1/8" aluminum handlebar? i was.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1430363861 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1430363861 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1430363861 im guessing these are hydro-formed. the inside wall finish is very smooth. |
That's pretty cool. I have some Renthal Twin Walls on my bike and wonder if the ID looks similar. I did get confirmation from Renthal that I can run it without the crossbar. I have a Scott's damper so that was the only way to fit it in.

i took the drz on single track for the first time in 5+ years since the kawi is down, and i learned something very valuable: my Kawasaki is way to fuking stiff. my suspension guy said its hard to "get these forks moving". they were made for the track, and weve done everything we can including removing some sort of hold off valve, adding huge thin initial shims in the stack, etc. i have a few clicks left to play with on the soft side. im might end up drilling out a piston or something.
anyway, it rained a lot fri/sat which makes for good traction, it was fun. i met another guy on a drz for the first time in many years as well as most drz riders are the "adventure type". his has a robot face. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1431921425 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1431921425 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1431921425 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1431921425 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1431921425 |
Before smart phone apps, the club im in would do "helmet cam" racing. As in, recording the time with a video camera. Standing start at the trail marker, timed between trail markers.
My record dry run |
Finally got out this year besides the backyard.
I love how forgiving sand is: |
ive often wondered how those sand/mud knobbies work compared to a full paddle. your video demonstrates this well lol.
looks like a great area to ride |
I can't climb as well as the paddle guys but better than my old motocross tire. The people i was riding with want to go with the tire I have as well after trying it out. Makes a good all around tire and lately the dunes and soft conditions is what we have been riding. I'll see how it does on rocks this year as well.
