gah. I miss my CRF450. Looks like fun, aside from the radiator popping.

Yeah - just drained the bank account on this Polaris - only had 28hrs and paid sub 14k for it as seen.... however, it didn't take long to rack up anther 3k in aftermarket parts (not yet installed) - and I haven't even gotten the fox shocks yet! Bought it so I could do some really fun stuff with the kiddos :)

Sean hasn't posted it yet, so I will :P

Went down to Phoenix to visit my brother and his family and Sean invited me to come out and ride with him. I haven't really ridden a dirt bike since 2009 (did trials for a summer, but a very different game) so I was stoked to go again.

Had a blast. I felt like my technique was still decent but my muscles don't remember how to ride a dirt bike and I'm way out of shape, so I had arm pump almost immediately. When I rode the Kawi towards the end of the ride, 50 feet after I set off both arms pumped up so bad I couldn't operate the clutch or throttle with anything resembling precision. Had to get back on the Desert Couch to finish the ride.

All in all, had an awesome time, hope to do it again.

Just saw this thread... I recently bought my buddies 2008 ktm 200xc. Haven't had a dirt bike since 2008- it's still fun!

200 2 strokes unite!!!

I ride a 200, but its green. 200 2 strokes are just perfect for an offraod bike, IMO. My main riding buddy rides an 09 200 xcw

Nice- the only other bikes I've spent time on off road have been a yz80 and cr125 but that was a long long time ago. This does seem like a pretty good balance of being light and maneuverable while still having some balls.

I do want a fuel injected bike though- here we end up doing massive altitude changes on most trail rides...

You found a rare bird!

Finally learned to cross the big logs. moved up to multiple and bigger stuff since this pic. Practice is amazing for skills.

A wet race a couple months ago. Nothing crazy here, I just really like the picture.

Have you not heard? KTM announced a few weeks ago that the 2018 2 strokes will be injected.

Has anyone seen the newish freeride? My other friend just bought one and loves it. He said I could borrow, but Im scared of what I might do if I ride one. I know ill love it, and I dont really want a divorce, or to get rid of the miata.
6spd, lights and street legal (at least here in AZ), 250 2 stroke, super lightweight and simplistic, no powervalve, lots of ground clearance(just look at that pipe design!), 18" rear wheel, made for the gnarlies, part enduro, part trials bike, does 75 on the freeway.

I have seen those, but the minimal suspension has my nose turned up at them. But that injected two stroke, that's a different story. ive got to ride my new 250FX for another few years before I can even think about one though. Give em plenty of time to work them out anyway.

Yeah, not easy to find.

dcamp2 03-08-2017 07:53 PM

how do you get over big logs like that? wheelie blast into it and pickup your weight as the wheel is contacting it? I'm a pretty solid rider from racing mountain bikes but lacking in the moto specific skills... I'd just bunny-hop that log on my bike. :)

Edit: and yeah I'm not getting a new 2018 fuel injected 2 stroke- it would be sweet, but I'm not rich. haha

Close. wheelie blast front wheel over it, then hold the leaned back wheelie body position and keep on the throttle or even apply a secondary blip, once the rear makes contact. It'll climb and launch you over the log, and you actually can turn it into a jump.

Sean rides!

dcamp2 03-18-2017 05:26 PM

Got to play hooky from work on Friday and found the goods. This is a ride near Canon City, CO. We hit the timing perfect- a little snow but not enough to cause any problems- a week earlier we would have needed snowmobiles.

Check out this hard hit. This was from probably 10-12 ft. high, giant take off- 3rd gear wide open to a flat landing. Look at the tire deflection with 10 psi!
