Earthlink via a time warner cable connection... Not Shabby

I'm pretty happy with this since I live in a place where the fastest DSL I could get was previously 768k. It's reliable and functional.

Lightning!

That's for the low low $35 per month plus another $30 for the phone line I never use. They don't do the DSL only service in GA.

had comcast for nearly 18 months.... roughly half of that I didn't pay for because the service was ****. internet was dropping over a hundred times a day... the tv would not get ANY picture for hours at a time... I'm never going with comcast again, and probably not cable either. Check out the AT&T unity plans... we are getting satelite, dsl, long distance, and in the near future mobile phone on one bill and fairly cheap (under $100 without the mobiles... with them it's like $155). I think my comcast was $150/mn for internet/tv that rarely worked right.

The test is too dependant on performance of the server. I get results from 4000kb/s to over 15000kb/s depending on which server I choose. Neat graphics though.

Yeah, try the closest to your location and then one or two that are around the same area. I know my work when i Ping to Portland from Corvallis (70mi) away I get 15-20m down 10m up. If I ping to LA i get 35m down 23m up because we are on the same back-haul line that runs to LA. So we are going down our own Fiber line all the way to the server as in to portland we bounce around a bit. It is still the best way to check your avg speed other then say running a ping command and then doing all the math.

yeah, but.. it's quite consistent between tests, and if I run the cable and dsl at the same time on two different lines and my 5mb cable line runs 5mb and my 7mb DSL runs 5mb I kind of have issue....

plus comcast has a hell of a burst, I can burst 12mb for a second.

WTFBULLSHIT

Analyst Donny(Fri Apr 13 22:12:43 MDT 2007)>Unfortunately we do cap single downloads so for a single file you won't see a true 7mb download. These packages are for bandwidth downloads such as multiple files at once, etc.

time to cancel that ****.
