i would feel bad for anyone at the dyno if he made it there and it blew apart man.

I highly doubt he will make it to the shop ;)

kenzo42 12-03-2008 02:34 AM

After reading some of this posts again, I'm convinced this is a hoax.

I'm in this camp as well. I hope when he is done he posts a video of a stock miata running and says it's the one he built. m.net would then be full of people running out and doing this.

...I should probably buy a miata before that happens.

Braineack 12-03-2008 11:45 AM

he might be fucking around, but he's still doing it.

MattEGTR 12-03-2008 11:54 AM

I'm laughing so hard my eyes are tearing up :o

Joe Perez 12-03-2008 11:56 AM

I don't think he's hoaxing, based upon the fact that he's also posting here as well: Building a high compression piston - B15sentra.net - Nissan Sentra Forum

He's got no reason to pulling one over on those guys.

georgefury1 12-03-2008 02:23 PM

This is funny but it scares the shit out of me to know that people this stupid actually try and give others advise on the web. He should be banned after his "build thread". Its still funny as hell though!!

Joe Perez 12-03-2008 03:13 PM

Well, somebody opened a poll now where you can place your wagers: MX-5 Miata Forum - "Building high comp. pistons" thread POLL!

My money is on spun main/rod bearings......all of em!! How long do you guys think the jb weld will hold up??

patsmx5 12-03-2008 05:06 PM

In all seriousness, the JB Weld is plenty strong enough to hold that aluminum piece on there. Should hold no problem assuming decent prep work was done. But when it gets hot... I'm not sure how hot it can get before the JB Weld will weaken/fail. Anyone know the average temperature of a piston? I'm sure it depends on load. I'd venture to say it could idle forever like with those parts JB welded.

I can't wait for vids.

Mach929 12-03-2008 05:23 PM

yeah i hope they hold on long enough for him to try to take a rip down the street, failure in the driveway would be too boring

Vashthestampede 12-03-2008 05:36 PM

lol.....how did I miss this. I love the fuckin PDF, so awesome. :)

Vash-

coastertrav 12-03-2008 05:55 PM

I want the piece to come dislodged at 7000rpm and turn sideways in the motor. Anything less and I will be disappointed. Actually if it works well enough to get others to do it then does the aforementioned failure a month or two from now.

500F-650F is a pretty rough estimate.

I've used JB weld-type epoxy inside a two-stroke engine where it works fine, but on a piston? It might stay together for the first few cycles after the engine fires that's about it.

BTW JOE PEREZ IS MY HERO!!!:bowrofl:
