Default I've been douped, hoodwinked, robbed....

I finally got my yahoo account back from some punk who stole it getting to my paypal. Ask jwarriner about the lame excuse that "I" "accidentally" sent $3000 to him by mistake, and would really like it back for "my" daugter to by a laptop in Nigeria. finally straightened out i hope, changed all of my passwords and canceled some accounts, but damn that gets on my nerves.

He probably fell for one of those fake login links that come in the email. I get those all the time. They say there from paypal or yahoo and send you to a site that looks like the paypal login page but it's a key logger site. Always check the address bar. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_login-run That is paypal's login page. Note the address begins with https://www.paypal.com not http://earls_crackhouse_for_abandone...ypal/login.com

Is there a shortage of laptops in Nigeria? Is that pronounced like "diarrhea" ??Anyways, there's always some scam originating from Africa. Don't they have anything better to do? If they even have access to a computer there already living like kings compaired to the rest of the country. They need to start boosting Miatas in there spare time.

you will receive a confirmation regarding the payment from paypal and
paypal will need the tracking number before they can transfer the
money so please i will like you to get the 3,000USD sent via western
union to my daugther in nigeria and i beleive she will be able to get
a new laptop notebook overthere,i shold have get the money back from
PayPal but there is no PyaPal where she is in nigeria and please
kindly email paypal with the money transfer details so they can
transfer the payment of the $3,000USD ASAP.

Here is the recever's details:

Name :Onifade George
Address:Iwo-Road
City :Ibadan
State :Oyo
Zip :234
Country:Nigeria.

I do hope the money will be transfer todat as soon as you receve the
payment confirmation from PayPal,

sorry for the incovinience and thanks for the help.

Regards.

mazda/nissan paid me for a 16G turbo shortly before I started receiving spoof e-mails from his account. The "hacker" probably checked his e-mails for recent paypal activity and targeted those people as well. I don't fall for that bullshit though. I reported it to paypal and decided to have a little fun with the ******** who hacked the account.

Brain, basically mazda/nissan fell for some sort of phishing scam and they saw me in his e-mail and decided to pull the same **** on me. What they ultimately want is your paypal information so they can steal from you. mazda/nissan wasn't clear on whether his paypal was hacked or which was hacked first.

Here's the other e-mails they sent.

Dear PayPal User,

This email confirms that johnmiata, have paid jwarriner@gmail.com $3,000.57 USD using PayPal for a purchase of a new 60gb laptop notebook.

This credit card transaction will soon appear on your bill as "PAYPAL ACCOUNT''.as soon as you have email us with the shippment details.
The last one there was sent about ten minutes after the first fake e-mail I got from mazda/nissan's e-mail address.

These bastards play off paranoia, laziness and whatever other weaknesses people have and just onslaught you once they find an e-mail address linked with a paypal account.

The mistake was claiming $3000usd for a laptop. Now THAT'S hard to beleive!

I wonder how many of these scams work out? 1 in 1000? 1 in 10000? Must be worth the trouble otherwise no one would do it.

<1>
I bought a 16g from jwarriner, everything worked out fine until i noticed that i could not get into my email, i thought i had forgotten the password. Made a new account and sent Yahoo an email requesting a new password, but the hijacker had changed my information to a fake name so i could not provide the correct details to retrieve a password. So then i tried getting into my ebay and paypal accounts but the password and information had been changed there too.

<2>
After a lot of emails i finally got back passwords and changed them to some tough ****. I canceled my paypal account and sent a email requesting cancellation of my hijacked yahoo account (still pending).

< 3>
After entering my hijacked acount i noticed that all emails were deleted except for ones pertaining to paypal, ebay, or jwarriner. jwarriner didn't buy it though and gave the guy some harrassment . Since then my account has not been entered and i went to sent messages and found out that hatch4raceb16 got sent an email too, he didn't respond thankfully, and didn't send money back i hope

thats my story...

Don't worry man, Just give me your email and password and I can fix everything. I work for Google so I can fix everything AND give you 10000 super bonus points.

I never trust any email I get from Paypal because I am worried about being scammed. ******* Scumbags.

I wonder if they were targeting this forum, because I have been getting 2 or 3 of those fake emails everyday for a couple of weeks. They are all amazingly fake to me so I just delete them or report them as spam. Or look at the email because after all the trouble google and ebay have had I seriously doubt paypal(ebay company) has a gmail account. Just a guess though.

Anyway I think my email is in my profile. I wonder if they didn't see that we transfer money on this site for the classifieds, and think it would be an easy target to pick up some emails to scam? This is the first time I have ever gotten a phishing scam that gmail didn't catch and filter.
