Default Kids vandalized my car today.

Great. That is what I get for staying late at work and trying to be a good teacher.

I'm sitting at my pc at work doing some grading when a fellow teacher comes down to my room and says "hey you have a small green car dont you?" I replied "yeah, why?" She says she was in the break room and was looking at our parking lot and noticed two kids on bikes throwing stuff at my car. I ran out and so did my teaching partner. We saw both kids, near the end of the parking lot, and they do not go to our school. I did not see damage on my car so we lectured them about not through rocks or stuff at peoples car. One of the kids a real sour attitude. So I walked back to my car and thats when I saw it. Powder from where a rock had hit my DS window, thankfully it did not shatter. My trunk was a different story. Near the top middle of the trunk, right were it meets the belt line between the Frankenstein bolt plates, my trunk and the belt line have a deep gouge in that goes all they way through the paint. I'm surprized it did not tear through the aluminum. My Hardtop glass is also damaged. it is not cracked, or spider-webbed, but it is like when you drop a glass and it is not smooth anymore but rough and bumpy.

Call the school PD and the came out but of course the kids where no where to be found at that point. Don't have much hope that they will be found as all they have to go on are descriptions. But i already informed the officers if anything does occur that I am pressing chargers. They need to learn to respect other peoples properties. Let alone people doing good in their communities.

I'll upload the photos later, suffice it say I am ticked .

Dont think I will be staying late at work anymore.

And here comes money out of my pocket since if it is less than my $500 deductible.

Here is a question. Can you polish automotive glass? I dont want the rough spot on the glass as I do not want to give it the chance to spiderweb or crack in the future in the TX heat, or in our freezes. I am pretty sure if they glass were to be replaced that it would not be cheap.

Sorry to hear about what happened.
I think the right punishment for kids like that is they they are forced to work and pay for the damage.

No you can't polish glass to get rid of pits or chips. Even if you could, it would result in optical distortion.

Hopefully it's not too bad, because most people I know go to lexan windows, which suck beyond the 4lb savings. Don't wanna know how much it costs either. Actually I do. Find out.

No. The school I work at had an extra parking area added on last year. The parking lot camera does not look that way. I can usually see my car from my classroom window, but not when I am siting at my pc after work typing.

That sucks, man. Replacing HT glass isn't that big of a deal. Call one of those windshield/glass repair (replacement really) companies that'll do it while you're at work, err, make house calls.

Any camera that a public school would have would likely not be able to give a detailed enough idea of what the perps looked like.

You can not tell how deep it is in this photo, but any deeper it would have gone through the metal.

the damage to the HT window is not that visible on my crappy cell phone cameras. Like I said not a crack but i'd hate to have the "scored" spots eventually eventually turn into one on my dime become of some "fun" some kids wanted to have.

I am thankful that my DS window did not bust.

I know it could have been much worse, but still ticked that this will probably come out of my own pocket when that could have been used for other things like Grad school, or my wedding.

Sorry to see this, definitely sucks. I'd be beyond pissed in your situation.

A local member did. IIRC, the glass was quoted at $270 from Mazda and $210 from MazdaSpeed Motorsports. You'll have to replace the rubber seal as well, never heard what the cost on that part was.

what ever happened to those car alarms that used to say stuff like "BACK AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE, LAW ENFORCEMENT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED"? They were popular in the early 90s...

People got too use to them and didn't pay attemtion when they went off b/c they went off too easily. I don't think they worked too well on criminals like car thieves , but something like that would scare rock wilding kids off.

Years ago I was outside work having a smoke break with a buddy of mine and this lady pulled in and asked if we had seen two kids in the area wearing bandannas. She said they threw rocks at her company vans down the street and broke like 3 or 4 of the windshields on them. We told her if we saw them we'd let her know.

Well wouldn't you know that literally minutes after she pulled away we saw two kids wearing bandannas walking by. We yelled "Heyy come over here!!" and they bolted. For whatever reason we both instantly ran after them and chased them behind another store. My buddy leaped through the air tackling the one kid to the ground and I caught the other kid in a dead end and just grabbed him by the shirt.

Turns out the kid my buddy got was like a 10 year old girl and I had her older, probably 13 year old brother. We told them to sit on the ******* ground and told them they were in big trouble. Sure enough the lady circled around and saw us with the kids. She was screaming at them while she called the police, thanking us like 20 times for going out of our way to help her. We gave the police our names as witnesses and then went back inside to work.

About a week later we got a call from the police regarding my buddy tackling the girl to the ground. Apparently she hurt her arm in the process. We told the cops that we yelled for them to stop but they kept running from us and with the hats and bandannas we couldn't tell how old they were, let alone even think that one of them was a girl. Cop said they were brother and sister and the mom was in the nearby grocery store shopping when this all happened and that she was pissed. In the end nothing came from it and no charges were made toward us.

Ouch, I'd be pretty pissed off if I were you too. Perhaps get the kids from your school to rat out the kids from the other school. Never know, it could work!

When i was a kid, I thought it was funny to put vasoline on peoples xmas light bulbs outside after unscrewing them. LOL
For some reason that seemed funny and kinda harmless.

On the other side of things I have had my house egged, cars egged, tires slashed. Just retarded vandalism.

Sorry about what happened to your car. Kids are dumb and kids make mistakes. They dont understand consequences. No kid should get a criminal record over something like that even though I think they should (confusing statement). Kids need fear, not a ruined life.

Glass should buff out. You might be able to touch up the trunk and have it cleaned up by a pro.

Either way, ghey.

I shiver to think of the Karma justice I'm in for, due to all the rotten things I did when I was a kid/teenager...

Me and my buddy use to go around and make the light up reindeer look like they were having sex around Christmas time.
