And then, for a long time, nothing happened.
Today, a large number of countries possess "the bomb", and yet we're not terrified of most of them because we consider them to be sane and reasonable. And there's the rub. Power in today's world can be measured in many ways. Economic power, military power, technological power...
But the ability to terrify your enemies into a submissive posture? It's no longer sufficient to merely have the biggest army or the most lethal stockpile of nuclear weapons the world has ever seen. You have to be viewed as being just crazy enough to actually use them.
The Soviets though that the US was a bunch of batshit-crazy cowboys. The US thought that the Soviets were a bunch of batshit-crazy megalomaniacs. So maybe KJI and his successor(s) figure "hey, why not act in a way such that we are perceived by the west (and by our hippy cousins to the south) to be a bunch of batshit-crazy dictators?"
Irrationality, or at least the perception of irrationality, that's the new Power.

The consensus is that they have anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 tons of chemical weapons stockpiled. It takes a few drops in a closed room to kill everyone inside, so can you imagine what kind of damage they could do with 5,000 tons of the ****? A nuke that goes off like a fart and kills a few thousand, or tens of thousands, mostly at one time, or all of that horrible chemical **** to kill thousands of times more people, over a longer period, with more suffering. I'm actually more concerned with it being used on their own people like Saddam used to do. I"m not sure that they would be a threat outside of their own country, and to the South Korean people.

If you would stop being a douche for a second and read my above posts you would see that I said I am scared for the North Korean people, that it could end up being like another Saddam incident, with the military possibly using it on the people.

Because they are human and I have a little compassion. They hate us because they are commanded to, or they are shot in the face, and their family taken away, to never be seen again. They have little to no knowledge of the outside world. So I don't see how anyone could blame the people for their ruthless governments ****. We have a perfectly good relationship with the south, the only reason the north is different is it's fucked up dictatorship. We have some hand in how things ended up there in the 40's and 50's.

In this case, North Korea's welfare is equivalent to our own, 'cause the politicians will have a ******* field day with our rights if the worst happens in NK.
