There is this out here. I can drive it to you after Saturday. Off for a few weeks. You pay gas, food, and take me out for dinner and I'll drive it to you.
MUST SELL IMMEDIATELY! I'd bet its not an actual 10th anniversary. |
morons call their 99's 10th anniversary because it was made in the same year as the 10AE

This is my first car built in the 21st century, my first car with A/C, my first car with power windows, etc... Imagine waking up tomorrow morning and finding yourself a transsexual quadruple amputee in the île du Diable prison in 19th century French Guiana. Aside from being heavier, uglier, twice as expensive, and less comfortable to sit in, yes, I agree completely. And that would be a totally reasonable thing to expect. It would also be wrong. According to Vulpes carpentum, the car spent the first 4.5 years of its life in North Carolina (0-46,000 miles), then moved to Boca Raton, FL where it lived until April 2013 and 121,000 miles, whereupon it moved to the Empire state and racked up another 11,000 miles between then and now. So the underside is pretty damned clean. Most of the brown stuff is dirt, there aren't even any spots I'd want to hit with POR15 before applying an undercoating. I need to get under there and take a closer look at some point as something is rattling like hell when I go over bumps (sounds exhaust-ey), but of course I need to buy jackstands, a jack, a house with a garage, etc. City life has deprived me of these things. I welcome specific recommendations for undercoating / rustproofing, incidentally. So far as I can tell, it's not actually an LS as advertised, but rather an Azure Blue Leather package base car- worst of both worlds. Still, it'll be easy enough to upgrade it to a base black cloth car. |
I still have the last BP 2560 turbo kit in my attic.

Congrats on the purchase. How long till you put an MS3x in it and then turbo?
I do need the battery hold-down bracket, if anyone has one of those available. |
Joe,
5 bux says the "rattley" thing is not your exhaust but your rear brake calipers. Congrats. You scored one heck of a deal. |
Does it have blue seats and blue inserts in the door panels? The outside appears to be a Shinsen edition. Shinsen was intended to look like an LS, but without some of the other parts (like the upgraded suspension) to reduce the price.
Nice looking car. |
I think its that LS he posted a few posts up.
Are those wet-okole seat covers? |
Ah, nice. Someone could have put a blue top on an LS. The LS would have come with a tan top and tan leather seats. It would also have a tochigi fuji limited slip and all of the "sport" bracing. It would not have the bilsteins however, they came with the 6-speed only.

How does a rear brake caliper make a huge rattle going over bumps, while still offering excellent braking performance? I'll check 'em out, but I can't quite picture that being the culprit here. |
You'll see what I mean if you throw the car on a lift and tap the wheels with a mallet.
It drove me absolutely bananas for the first couple months of owning this 01. There's nothing wrong with the calipers, they're not loose or broken, but some of them develop that clink/rattle, and short of replacing them there's nothing you can do about it. I had the car on the lift like 10 times, and literally inspected every square mm of the underbelly/suspension on mine, and that was the culprit. Its hard to explain exactly what is causing the issue..I just ignore the rattle now. This is with SPORT brakes only IIRC, none of our regular nb brakes have this. Hopefully yours is just the exhaust rattling, but I doubt it. |

It's definitely not a Shinsen, as that was in 2003 and it would have been a darker grey. Also, Ben, your LS info is a little outdated. On the later NBs, the LS package could be had with either black or tan leather / top, and the 6 speed was optional on the LS car. |

It was advertized as an LS, but I'm quite certain it's a base car with the Azure Blue Leather package.
