Default Making a locost miata for lemons

I was thinking about this the other day and wondered what you guys thought. The main center part would be the cage so that would help a lot with the cost. I have a steel supplier that gets a lot of 1" square tube scrap that he would basicaly give me, but I would still have to buy some.

I have found a couple miatas like our lemons car that we could get for a couple hundred that would be perfect donors. We could even sell all the extras and come close to breaking even on the car.

I am going to email jay lamm and see what he has to say about it. I had so much fun building our last car on a budget that I can't imagine how awesome this would be to do.

I'd be really tempted to do something diesel, like a compact pickup truck maybe. Or a Russian compact pickup truck. You'd be a sure thing for Index of Effluency.

Locosts are cool but I doubt they'd be legal for lemons. If they did let you in you'd be penalized 300 laps or something ridiculous.

Yeah looking at the rules a little closer, they definately wouldn't let me in. If i didn't get penalized out of the race then i am sure i would be crushed. That would really suck.

I was more excited about having to build one for less than $500 than actually racing it in the lemons race. It kind of goes against what the race is really about and is aimed more towards GRM $2009 challange stuff. Maybe I will try for that instead. Seems for fitting for that kind of car anyway.

After a marathon prep session on the rally car when we weren't quite thinking right, my pal and I considered running his beater '64 Ford Econoline van in LeMons. The cage would be awkward, and the worn-out 3-on-the-column shifter would be fun, but we figured that it would be a fitting end for the rust-box.

For reference, imagine a rusty, worn out, chalky-paint version of this:

HA!

On the plus side, the team's theme would be an easy one:
