Default Mercedes Benz C230 kompressor

Friend of mine has a 2001 C230 hatchback. If you're not familar it's a 2.3 liter supercharged and intercooled rear wheel drive 6-speed manual. 3200 pounds but still a nice car. He recently bought a smaller pulley and installed it. He has no boost gauge and didn't do anything else to the car. He claims that he dosen't need to do anything else that the car can handle the estra boost. He doesn't know alot about tuning cars, mostly mustang 302 bolt on stuff info. He got the pulley info off of Benzworld .com I've warned him he might destroy the motor but he's been running it for 3 weeks now without any problem. Do y'all know anything about this car and if it can automaticly compensate for the increase in boost , he claims it's gone from 6 to 11. Car has 200 hp at the flywheel stock.

it will probably be fine, mercedes has a failsafe on almost everthing, probably see too high of a voltage in the mass air flow sensor and shut him down if it couldn't handle it. i think the boost is higher than that stock, and i think it made 189 crank in stock form. i can find out tomorrow

And?

Those Mercs are boring. I was helping a repo buddy of mine and we repoed one of them baby Merc Kompressors. It was heavy and it FELT heavy. Mercedes doesn't underbuild engines really, if he did bump up the boost to 11psi it should be okay.

Renntech makes a pulley for the C230K. It should be used in conjunction with an ecu flash. And together is good for 25-30 additional hp and tq out of the 1.8 and 35-40 hp and tq out of the 2.3.

I had the 4 door sedan for a week as a courtesy car when my E was at the dealer. Small, but I thought it was a nice car.

I just found it strange that he could increase the boost so much without any oter changes. According to Ben it sounds like he needs a reflash which is what I've been telling him.

It's not a miata but it is a nice 13K dollar 50K mile car with very nice leather interior, navi, 6-speed manual , huge sunroof , and hatchback convenience. It does look ugly from the side but it is a pretty decent rear wheel drive car.
