Default mother nature can be a b!tch

well I recently moved into a new home on some acreage about 3 months ago, and last week I just finished cleaning and sweeping my new barn mainly to get the miata ready for service. I just called in for my collision insurance to be turned back on around 12, but came home to this after work. thankfully nobody was home during the ordeal, but even better was that no one hit by the storm had suffered a fatality.

the miata has a few dents, a blown soft top, a destroyed hard top, and a cracked windshield. The question is that how much should I be giving for insurance for replacements and repairs? the soft top was a cloth zippered glass window, and the hard top was a oem with defrost and a headliner.

if you look close you can see a 4x8 sheet of osb that's still 40ft up into the trees.

Just had a piece of hail go through my soft top of my '97 couple weeks ago. Insurance just quoted me $1800 (minus deductable) for that including the window seal that got messed up, and a dent in the fender.

I'd be more worried about the garage. Looks nice. Can the trunk close or is it just open?

Fortunately the trunk will close so that's a plus. I was planning to change my slave/master Clutch cylinders, and add the 949 racing line today.

Not having either building useable is teh suxor, but not as much as finding out what tools are either missing or nfg. The worst loss has to be my oil can rack filled up with bolts, nuts, and everything else under the sun. Until then ill be counting down the days until my shop is built. Hell maybe I should set up a time lapse like the recent shop build thread

fly crib on a swag piece of property, sorry to hear of your Miata's misfortune.

I could be wrong, but I believe if a car is inside of a garage, then it's covered under your homeowner's insurance. not sure if the garage has to be attached to the main dwelling or not.

good luck.

That sucks man. We had a close brush with a tornado in 08. Fortunately only $29K in damage. Good luck on the repairs. Looks like the house faired well.

well I have some positive news about the miata. Insurance offered me 7094.24 after buy back! on the other hand still waiting on the house. The barn is a true pole barn and the front pole was snapped during the storm so that and a few other items are holding up the claim. Ill keep the thread updated as things change.
