Just keeping it real and calling it like I see it. Both sides are full of it and too temperamental. I am a car advocate; I like cars from all makes and models. Done some mild build and some fairly complicated ones, both import and domestic, I just love cars. Sometimes I’ve done most of the work myself, sometimes I pay somebody. That said I am a member of a lot of different sites. I see what I call Automotive racism a lot…(nothing to do with people) On the domestic sites they talk junk about imports, on the import sites they talk crap about domestics, on one site the camaro and mustang guys talks shit about each other. DYI miata guys talk shit about MSM owners, vette guys talk shit about everybody that doesn’t own a vette. MT is the second most irritating site for newbs I’ve been on. Corner Carvers is the worse. I personally think people take the internet too serious. Like the grammar police fuckers. Much of my job hinges on my writing skills, so I write a lot at work, million dollar projects often hinge on my communications skills. When I’m on a message board I could give shit if I misspell a word here and there because I don’t see the see the need to double check, spell check etc. All I need to do is convey my ideas. If you know what I meant, mission accomplished. Current sentence structure and grammar really mean jack to me online, but some try and make a federal cause out of it and think you are an idiot because you misspelled a word on a message board. Both sites have valuable information and good people on it, both have idiots, last I checked, all sites usually have them, some more than others, I see no reason to take sides.

But talking shit about people who post under average dyno sheets and high 13 second time sheets? Come on now.. That in itself is being an elitist, which this site is accused of being full of, kind of ironic I guess.

Not trying to stir shit up, I just thought that was pretty low.

I read over there for a little bit. They talk too much. Yada yada Yada

Sometimes the hazing just comes off stupid here. Sometimes it is worthy of the person.

Never the less, the other forums do it as well.

We do help each other out though. And the moderator from that forum was just mad he couldn't use his ban stick. Even one of the guys on their own forum complained on him. LOL

I DON'T CARE WHAT HE SAYS.......... I LIKE THE BOOB THREADS........

We get pissed when a newb comes here and:
  • post in the wrong section
  • Ask common questions that are answered in the stickies
  • Refuses to search AFTER being informed to read the stickies and FAQs
  • Refuses Grammar.
Let me elaborate on the last point. We don't care if someone typos. Everybody does and nobody cares.

We get pissed when people flat out refuse to use simple grammar. Being the grammar Nazi of mt.net, if you tried, you could probably find 30 post from me "correcting" peoples grammar. But if you look closely, I never proof read people's post just to show them they typod. Mainly I'll post telling the newbs to capitalize the first letter of each new thought and end them with proper punctuation. And to break up huge paragraphs into several smaller paragraphs that are more organized and easier to read. To quit typing in all caps. Simple stuff that makes their thoughts more closely resemble the English Language.

I continue to defend MT over in the MSM forum. I like it here! So it wouldn't surprise me at all if the MSM mods ban me.

Braineack 10-02-2008 12:07 PM

Evan, we hate you and your MSM.

Heh .... there was a time when I would've gone ape-shit in response to that. :)

Somewhat. But, my post was mainly saying that you are over exaggerating the issue. I know what you mean by people that seriously will correct you if you have one word wrong and yeah I hate that. Just saying most here don't do that.

There are a handfull that are pretty bad. I mispell a lot on boards, but it's because I really don't care as long as you know what I meant. I have seen post, mostly on other boards where the poster did a whole paragraph with no punctuation whatsoever so you can't tell where shit starts and ends. That is very irritating. But I usually just don't read it.

M@, I don't see how you were anything other than statesmanlike.

Here's the way I see this: 2 people are trying to stir the pot.
Here's the solution: Don't take the hook with the bait.

I really don't get it at all. Why can't we all peacefully coexist? Why are people trying to start trouble in a place where there is no trouble? Are their lives so dull and without excitement that this is their pure derivation of pleasure?

By 'we' I am specifically referring to 2 individuals. 1 of which is already known for douchery. But enough of the rhetoricals for now.

jayc72 10-02-2008 01:55 PM

If people would just read before they post there would be very little problem. If newbies would read and get a feeling for the "playful" atmosphere around here they wouldn't be surprised by it. Just like when I go see strippers I'm not surprised to see tits. If I walked in knowing what I was about to see and then stormed out or threw a fit when I saw boobies I'd be a fucking moron.
