1600cc's of fury, 1000lbs, right hand drive. I wish he still had it. 1956(?) Lotus Eleven
The second pic was the only race he ever won. :gay: Still pretty sweet if you ask me though.

Man it would have been a whole different ball game living in that era.

anyone else think that the 11 looks like a ***** with wheels? Don't get me wrong I like the cars a lot... but the pic M2 posted is damn near pornographic.

Geeze, my dad drove truck and operated heavy equipment. No racing blood in my family at all. Let alone a F5000 (had to google it). That's pretty sweet. Did you race at all growing up?

my parents called tonight. I got a list of cars my dad used to drive:

* Cooper Formula Junior
* Merlin with alpha engine
* Renault-powered Formula III
* Porsche speedster 1500 super lightweight
* lotus 18

he said in his first year of racing he got 11 firsts, 4 seconds, and one DNF.

and that he never lost a race in the rain. heh.

I think this was primarily all west coast SCCA stuff. his fave of course is laguna seca. I'm kinda bummed i didn't get a chance to try it myself before moving from california.

Reminds me of my dad;

VW SuperBeetle
A-H Sprites
MG Midget
Triumph Spitfires
etc.

The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.
