proposition: install giant electromagnets in the right lane to pull cars to the right. if you want to pass, you must fight the pull but since it is so strong, you will stop fighting as soon as you have a clear space in the right lane.

proposition: (mentioned previously in another thread): the 2 mile long lane. every two miles, the right lane ends and merges to the 2nd lane. meanwhile, a new left lane is added to keep the same total lanes. ultimately lazy drivers are forced to the right by a sort of "inclined plane" of road paint.

proposition: abolish the left exit and entrance. nothing is worse than someone deliberately slowing down in the left lane to leave the freeway. or worse yet, cruising slowly there while they wait miles for their exit. my "fave" is the 25mph left ramp exit I use to get off the DC beltway to go home. grr.
