Haven't had a track day since June. In case you haven't heard, there has been major flooding on the Missouri river for two months now. It isn't anticipated to go below flood stage until maybe October.

 

That sucks. Too bad you don't live in New Orleans so you can get everything for free and get paid for the rest of your life.

 

Then move in to hustlers apartment complex and brake in to your neighbors apartments.

 

I see similarities to a jet boat track.

 

There are concerns that it may never reopen. It will be under water a total of four to five months. It looks static, but there is a lot of current flowing there so the pavement may buckle. Because it is flood damage there is no insurance to cover it. The track is 2-3 miles from the river. It's a shame as the track is only about 10 years old.

 

Damn- that is a loooong time. I hate to say it, but I can't imagine it resurfacing without substantial damage. :(

 

My uncle runs a track day there every year for the Mustang Club of Iowa. He was telling me about this. It does sound like the owner doesn't have the capital to do any major repairs if they are needed. It would be a shame if it didn't reopen.

I did the track weekend with my uncles club something like four years in a row. I've probably got more seat time there than anywhere but Mid-Ohio. It's a pretty fun track, some very fast parts and some tricky parts. Only downfall is it's as flat as kansas...well and it's under water, that too.

 

Send some of that water down here. We thirstay.

^ Too bad we can't divert the Missouri. The floodgates at Gavins Point Dam at the NE/SD border have been open to a record 150,000 cubic feet per SECOND for the last two months and anticipated to stay that way through September. It's an immense amount of water. Previous record since the dam was built was only 70,000 CFS.

 

Our local track is a state park, any major expenses such as repaving and new buildings are covered by charities and the like. This I'm assuming is a privately owned track? What's the name anyways?

 

Last I saw I-29 is still closed off at like MM 117 too. This is crazy!! Parts of central Kansas are under a heavy drought while we've got 11tymillion tons of water every micro second flowing by.


Assume you've seen the river first hand? I've never seen anything like that before, how fast it moves. Ya read numbers about how much water is there but really fail to grasp the magnitude of it without first hand witness..

Yes, I've been over the river a few times. The whole concept of the main North/South interstate in our area being under water for four months straight boggles the mind. They say the interstate may not open until next year. With this much water flowing around all of the piers that hold up the overpasses that NEVER were intended to take flowing water over them there could be huge sinkholes around the piers.

 

fuuuuu I always wanted to drive there. Sucks, guy who ran it was a nice guy :(. Hope it all works out for the better.
