Wow, you work with retards. Aren't you being a little elitist? I guess you are the only non-retarded one there!
Do you believe the people you teach don't deserve an education due to their mental retardation.
More elitist bullshit. So you believe that none of these people, students, campus security or your colleagues are intelligent enough or qualified to carry a hand gun?
In Texas, I could park at my university with my gun in the car (just like everyone else.) Our campus security had guns, and we had about 30,000 students as well. We also had no campus shootings! Hmmmm, how could that be? I even knew one off-duty officer who was a student that carried his gun to class. Still... No shootings.
LOL, I don't think either of us wants to drink the others kool-aid. I think it's fine that you stand by your beliefs, but it doesn't make them any less wrong.

I may be wrong (in your mind) but at least I don't live somewhere I feel I have to carry a gun ... for whatever reason. Are you telling me that you'd rather live in a society that requires everyone to carry guns to feel safe?

guesse you have never been in a bad postion. if you make it KNOWN you have a gun, people change their tone really quick. just placing it on the dashboard where the person/people that plan on doing harm SEE you do it goes a LONG way. it has saved me and my dads asses a few times while working (repoing cars). the people that was going to try and take a car back or even the car and the repo truck suddenly just turn and walk away.
Stakes are too high for me. Adding in a gun takes things to a level most people are not prepared to go.

Maybe I'm being somewhat harsh and speaking in sweeping generalizations. Perhaps some of them are capable of carrying firearms. But I'm not about to arm everyone to find out.

I'd rather live in a society where everyone was armed than one where the government told us we could in no way arm ourselves.

It hard to say what would happen.
Even if you banned guns, before can still make them. Back in HS a few buddies and I build a hand held rail gun. We shot a 9v battery through a 6" tree.
Also there is no such thing as a safe neighbor. I was rob in a suburban neighborhood in Denver, but when I moved into Downtown Denver, everyone avoided me like I was the plague.
I am a black belt and been trained how to deal with held-up at gun point and knife point. It still didn't help cause there was two people robbing me, and the one with the gun stayed 4 feet back.
My personal thoughts are that if you going to make it harder to get guns, make it the handguns. You hear about lessing shooting from rifles then pistols.

its a very simple concept. Either CHL posession for registered, educated adults is going to deter the shooter, or the armed sane person is going to snuff out the perp.

I like living in a city where the idea of needing to carrying a gun is truly unfathomable. If that means I give up my "right" to carry a gun, then so be it.

Tougher gun laws make for higher crime rates? Err Japan, Britain, France, and Italy? Is that all true
Without hard facts or statistics this is going down hill quickly.
Yet everyones ignoring the simplest and right solution. Muskets.
I wonder how many times an individual walked into a crowd and just went on a stabbing rampage... and how many people they killed.

Are you serious??? maybe not against each other, but plenty of innocent people/civilians are killed in wars when the young and inexperienced are put in a highly stressed environment with a gun in their hands. Not to mention the ones old and young who have intentionally killed people out of hate/racism/stupidity.
