1. Just got a call from my FedEx representative saying that Dow.Tom's and Paul's packages had incorrect addresses and they are sending them back to me ($200 to ship those packages)

2. I ordered Nismo headers for my 350Z ($650 shipped) and those were left at front door of some lucky bastard in El Monte, CA when I ordered them to be shipped to Marina Del Rey, CA.

So now I am down $850 because of FedEx. I opened claims about both situations and will post back any results once I hear from them.

Use UPS!

apparently they cant read the ******* address on a label before leaving at front door. thank god that turbo and water injection i sent didnt make it to whatever addresses their system replaced originals to...

 

here's an idea. instead of ******* returning it, call and ask for an address correction. i don't see how they cant redeliver it with a corrected address.

 

yeah, that's why you give them a telephone number for you and a telephone number for the recipient on the damn packing label.

The ugly little fact about FedEx is that for ground shipments they use many sub contractors who dont give a crap about your package. Often you will see 'adjusted' shipping charges by contractors trying to make a buck.
UPS employees are notorious for bad morale....and service.
There is no perfect carrier. The industry overall has a certain margin of error...it just sucks to be on the receiving end of the error.

 

Ive done away with both UPS and FedEx, both have given me nothing but problems!

most recently UPS opened up a collection claim on ME! saying i owed them 25 bucks for some business shipping account. I had bill collectors calling me. I dont even own a business.

Ive converted to the good ol USPS. so far their rates are much cheaper, and i have yet to have a problem with them.

 

FedEX lost the diff portion of my Torsen swap. Delivered it in the wrong COUNTRY. Was shipped out in three packages, two arrived. Took months but the seller finally got the $$$ out of FedEX, at least he was honest and refunded me the exact amount it was insured for. I won't use them again.

 

I've had bad experiences with all of them.

• FedEx bashed teh hell out of a box, breaking the extremely well packaged contents, and gave a huge run around with the claim.
• I dropped off 2 packages at USPS, each going to different parties. They were addressed correctly, and billed correctly. Yet USPS sent both packages to the same party (?), even though they had seperate labels.
• DHL has now lost 2 different packages for me. One to some dude in Michigan, who was a ***** about it, and the second was a control arm to olderguy. I filed claims for both, but have not recovered.
• The whopper: I sent a projector out UPS, just before Christmas 2 years ago. The projector was $6 or $6.5k dealer cost, but the max insurance UPS offered was $5k, so it was insured for the max. The projector was packaged in its original box, which clearly labeled its contents. The package was picked up by the driver, who signed for it. However, the projector never made it to the UPS central facility. To their credit, UPS did pay the $5k claim within a few weeks of filing. I also got a new driver, so I'm sure it was related.

In short, they all suck.

 

Did you guys hear, Fedex and UPS are merging. The new company gonna be called Fed Up.

As for my experiences. I always have issues with both, most of the time its **** not being delivered the day its supposed to, especially with UPS. Tracking would state "out for delivery" but the driver never comes by and then magically the tracking states "receiver was unavailable for delivery".

You know, I've actually had bad experiences with all of them.

If you send a parcel to certain places in the US, DHL will not actually deliver it. Instead, they take it as far as the nearest major city and then drop it off with the post office. Doesn't matter if you specified next-day delivery. I could almost deal with this if they bothered to tell you that this was going to happen while you were filling out the on-line form.

UPS seems to have a bad habit of imagining that people aren't there. On two occasions I've had parts emergencies on Friday (or Thursday evening, after shipping cutoff times) where I needed something delivered to my office on Saturday. So I paid the extra money, had the suppliers ship the parts for Saturday delivery, and then gone into the office and waited all day, phone at hand, for the truck to arrive. On both those occasions, nothing showed up, and the on-line tracking screen eventually said "delivery attempted, nobody home."

I think that FedEx occasionally hires ex-Delta baggage handlers to work at it's place in Memphis. You know how the on-line tracker shows you each time a parcel is scanned and at what location? Explain to me how a package shipped from Atlanta, GA to San Diego, CA winds up in Buffalo, NY (which is not even remotely near any FedEx hubs.)

The USPS? Don't get me started. I've had two packages vanish into thin air in the past year, with no means of recourse because I was too cheap to pay for insurance.

Point is- nobody's perfect.

 

the fact that private companies don't have a success rate any better than the government doing the same thing worries me. I try to use DHL whenever possible.

 

dhl seems to be the best so far but not in my area. they never show up and i ALWAYS end up driving 30 miles to down town in traffic to pick package up from their office :/

anyways, good thing i always add insurance to stuff i send even if its not worth ****.

 

I hate paying for insurance but i always get it at USPS. They lost one thing and damaged another two times i didn't insure the packages. So now I bend over and take the extra fee's while i pray they don't lose/break it. UPS has done me right everytime I've shipped with them. I never use FED-EX because the office is so far away. DHL is like the long lost company for shipping in Cookeville. No one knows where their office is but sometimes you order something and see a DHL van for the first and last time that year.

if you're very weary of losing your very expensive investment.... why not pay an extra couple bucks and get insurance? even the USPS guy said it himself.... "**** happens"
