Default new mustang = rice

I just skimmed a review of the '10 mustang in car and driver...

The 2010 mustang implements a new "sound induction tube" which alows you to hear the intake noise of the v8 in the cockpit when you hit the throttle... seams like RICE to me.

From cnet.com:
Buried in the midst of Car and Driver magazine's report on the 2010 Ford Mustang GT ($28,845) I spotted a reference to the engineers newfound awareness of sound. Not in the sense of a new multichannel sound system or iPod dock, no, Ford "pipes-in" the sound of the GT's 315 horsepower V-8 engine to the cockpit.

The specially designed pipe, dubbed a "Sound Induction Tube," transmits the sensual sounds of the Mustang's throbbing American V-8 muscle. In fact, the tube is fitted with a "Tuned Membrane" to provide just the right sonic splendor. Va-room! Not to worry, the Sound Induction Tube is a sound-only device, it doesn't vent engine odors or gasses into the cockpit.
Kinda reminds me of this:

LMAO go ford

Cool. Non-essential masturbatory garbage. Lame as ****. So the douchebags that currently drive mustangs are going to be even more pumped up as they hear their intakes suck. I smell amplified douchery in 2010.

I drive a Benz...but love the miata. Just cause you have the money to drop doesn't make it (mustang) a fun car to drive. I have to say though...I would take either one of my miatas over a Corvette/Camaro/Mustang anyday (and I used to own a corvette and camaro).

This isnt new. The current gen does the same thing. The first time I rode in my friends, it almost sounded like a supercharger. Its kinda retarded imho and I got annoyed by it pretty fast.

As for the 2010 stang. If its as good as they make it out to be, I can see myself picking one up. That is of course if they first fix the fisher price interior, and the oxcart like ride quality. But first id look for a used 911.

2010 Ford Mustang - Ford Mustang | StangNet.com

Bunch of info on to '10 stang, I was very excited when the new/old model appeared...till I drove it. Drives like total *** imo. Similar to a cheap pickup truck.

Browsing thru the above link, I don't see anything to indicate any different for 2010

It's also been done on the Z3 and VWs as well.....It's nothing new, and I suspect it's because the build car so insulated and quiet now.

Yeah I was surprised to know its been around for so long. I just thought it was funny the way car and driver put it, and of course the first thing that came to mind was that honda.

I keep forgetting i drive a car that you hear every single minute road noise. it must be weird to own a car with a quiet interior.

I had an IS300 that I couldn't even hear it idling. It was a strange transition from the miata which leaves me deaf for a few moments until my ears readjust.

audi has this on the 6cyl in the new tt too. thankfully i don't think it's made its way to any of the v8's.

and at the opposite end of the disappointing spectrum the blower on the new s4 is supposed to be pretty much silent.

my sister has one of the new mustangs. they pretty much suck *** save for the sound and the overall smoothness of the engine when you romp on it.

ford has a tsb regarding voltage finding its way into the cooling system and eating heater cores (this is on cars as recent as 06 mind you) and i know the early version of the new body style had issue with the doors opening in crashes. hopefully they've stepped it up a bit.
