Newb Porsche Owner Fail!

Me too. Maybe a black or silver, though red has always been my color of choice. I've been around tons of these but have never gotten the chance to drive one. One day... one day. When I think sports car, a 911 is typically the first thing to pop into my head. One of my dream cars since I will little.

The problem with doing this to your race car, though, is that your car's $$$$ suspension is now going to be working over every bump, crack, pothole, etc. in the road. My advice is to use tire straps to keep it from rolling, but also to pre-load the suspension so the trailer's suspension does the work instead of the car's.

A buddy from the local board had this to say...lol
UPDATE:
I described this story to my wife this morning and she told me a facebook friend of her's had recently bought and trailered a porsche to spring tx. So I did some facebook stalking. Even someone on his facebook picture comments told him his tow strap placement was stupid, and his b.s. response was,"It didn't hurt the paint, I am going to paint it anyway". In embarrassed idiot speak that probably means,"It damaged the paint, but I don't want anyone to know about it so I will lie."

My advice is to use tire straps to keep it from rolling, but also to pre-load the suspension so the trailer's suspension does the work instead of the car's.
A.) Loading your high-dollar suspension, and depending on it to maintain tension on the tie-down straps.
B.) Letting the suspension do the -small- amount of work that the trailer's suspension does not take care of, and applying as much tension as you want while the straps are over the wheels.
Remember that in the first example, every bit of tension you have in the strap is equal to the suspension's reaction. You have not only the normal sprung weight of the vehicle, but whatever force you deem necessary to keep the car from moving being applied.

I would never use straps over bodywork. Looking closely at that porsche, I see a red strap to what looks like possibly the left rear axle, and a chain on the right rear. Chain doesn't appear to be tight though.
Edit: possibly those are to tow hooks? I don't know 911's at all.
