Default Non-catalytic converter

Just read the disclaimer on the non-cats sold at siliconeintakes.com here. I am sure it's been posted before but I couldn't find it so I thought I'd share.

The product description above is for entertainment purposes only. This product does not perform the exhaust cleansing function of a catalytic converter in any way. Use of this product on or off the road violates countless laws and may prevent your car from passing emissions. It is unlawful to install this product in any vehicle in the United States, ever. If you wish to return this product at any time in the future, a full refund will be issued. This product should only be purchased by lawyers with pre-1975 vehicles or purpose built off-road vehicles that did not come with catalytic converters from the factory who know for a fact that it is legal to use in their vehicle in their jurisdiction for aesthetic reasons only. If you are not one of those lawyers, this product should only be hung on your wall to express your rebellious nature, never installed in a vehicle. This product may cause cancer.

Don't some events do thermal testing to make sure there actually is a catalyst in there? Lol at "unconstitutional"

So is there any way a cop could find out if I'm not using a cat?

Would they impound it and inspect it or something, if there was suspicion? Does it smell or sound obvious with out a cat?

I can always smell when a cat is not being used (at least I think I can <G>).

It definitely smells different and noticeable. Most cops cant tell though.
I doubt they can impound it, but catalytic converter removal in CA is something insane like 800-1500 fine.

It does change the exhaust tone when you remove it.

You can easily tell if a car has a catalytic converter on the highway by smell when you're following behind them at a normal distance.

So, for example, if a cop suspects you don't have a cat, but are using one of those fake hollowed out ones, what can he do?

He can look under car and see a fake cat, but can he get it inspected on suspicion?

Really, the only concrete evidence they would have is that if they used a sniffer, or removed it and saw it was hollowed out. You are not going to get caught. Although, mine has been hanging on the wall for 7 years
