Maybe I am just old, it's getting late, I have had a beer or three, but maybe someone can clue me in on a couple of things. There are some things that I don't understand.

What does "FTW" mean?

Why do people type "owned" as "pwned"?

Yes, I'll read through all of the crap I'm going to catch on this, just in case someone actually answers these questions.

pwned - A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.

"Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned."

Pwned has been around as long as there has been text based communication in Player vs. Player online gaming. Saw it all the time in EverQuest at least 8 years ago. It's been my personalized plate for 4 years.
