my GF wants to help me pull my motor. WTF at first i almost laughed at the idea but now i figure might as well let her see it and make up her own mind. Girl has no real mechanical background sure she is smart and a hard worker but, she has no idea what she volunteered to get herself into lol. Just thought i would share this and gather your thoughts etc. What do you guys think about it when your GF's etc volunteer to help do **** like that even though they are out of their league? And what is the general reaction you would have. 1 ok lets get you dirty 2 lol no way get out of my garrage or 3 meh you might as well try it and see

When I first met my gf now wife I had just bought my jet boat. I asked if she wanted to help rebuild the 440 Olds in it. It lasted about as long as she could use the impact LOL. I had a previous gf that loved to turn wrench. Never know till you get a busted knuckle and grease under the nails .

 

Hayley is a very pretty girl. I'd let her help just to have her around, but then my wife would probably be upset.

My GF pulled off the exhaust manifold last night. She loves spinning nuts.

 

No kidding.

But if my wife ever offered to help out in the garage I'd slap that bitch right then and there and call a lawyer...because I'd know she had cheated on me or some ****. My wife couldn't give a rat's *** about what it takes to get anything done. I have to explain how important some project is just to get 1/2 as much garage time as I need.

Magna...just take it easy and take time to explain. Don't get frustrated. If she's expressing interest in your stuff the last thing you want is to discourage her. She's apparently got a good attitude that you want her to keep throughout ya'll's relationship.

 

Isn't having your wife in the garage with you kinda like playing golf with your wife...

my g/f has a tendency to call me 10 times in a row when im under the car and am holding something really heavy right above my head. examples:

had an entire 2.5" mild steel exhaust system w/ cat and muffler fall on my chest once because she called in a wrong time...

then another time she called me 17 times in a row (no kidding!) while i was pulling a fuel line off... of course, ive got fuel in my eyes!

shes like a bad charm when it comes to me fixing cars and her calling...

My wife has helped me pull motors before. Twice, if I remember right. It was really no problem. She's also helped me drop a tranny and change a clutch.

I say let her. It's not very hard pulling a Miata motor anyway.

 

I'm just impressed you have a girl friend and she's hot. Well done.

Let her help. Once she sees the work involved she'll think you are a hero and give you a BJ.
