Oh for fucksake. If you don't like it, don't go over there. It's very simple. It's like this, if you don't like getting punched in the *****, cease punching yourself in the *****.

Simple fact. If you run a site that caters to even the remotely computer savvy ads will never make you any money. People will always find a way around them. Ad's are becoming, if not already, a dead end for money making.

Want an example? One of my friends is Moot, the guy who runs 4chan.org. His site gets more hits per day then MT.net and Miata.net combined x 1000. Does he make any money of his ads? No. Why? Because everyone knows how to get around them. If the ads would work, with his daily hit count he would be a millionaire in a week.

Gary needs to stop that goofy crap and stop pissing people off. Let the vendor ad's stay but the in text ads are just a nuisance.

And QFT to someone mentioning he needs to get rid of the Hitler Yugen he has running that place.

Now that idiot moderator Bob Hill is suggesting everyone become a supporting member,he's preaching about how it costs less than 6 cents a day and how much enjoyment you get out of it.

Jesus christ,he ******* sounds like one of those TV commercials about the starving African kids & babies with the swollen bellies.

I have FF. I use Track Me Not, Ad Block and a couple others. I never have ad problems. Honestly. I never knew about ads or the like on some of my favorite sites till I got a computer at work that I could browse with. IE for the lose.

Another thing that people have not mentioned is that a t'net forum is only as good and useful as it's members.

The people that are dishing out advice and helping other members do not see any of that profit.

It's like running a tech support help desk where you charge your staff to come into work.

I'm no where as knowledgeable as many of the guys on here, but i still try and help out when i can with advice.
Not only do i not see any money from that i have to pay more money as these fooooookin **** adverts cost me bandwidth which i have to pay for.

That is the only site online that mentions anything about revenue. I cant find one other source that mentions revenues from online advertisement. The only thing I get is online advertisement spending reports.

ANYWAY.

I probably should have been more clear. Unless you are a search engine, you wont be seeing revenue from online advertisement. Especially so if you are running a car forum, or any type of forum that caters to even remotely conscious people that know anything about computers.

So basically, Gary stole from ME first because I've actually helped people from that site in the past. That ****!

+1 that half the mods on m.net need to go. That site is over moderated IMO and most of the mods are asses. Granted it's their goal to keep everything work safe and formal, etc, and that part I understand. But I don't agree with all the things they do and how they go about doing them. Hence why I don't help people over there near as much as I used to. I get PM's every few days from newbs asking nitrous questions and I'll try to help them, but that's about it. If I see someone asking a MS question that I think deserves help they get a PM from me linking them to mt.net and give them a brief intro on what to do to survive here.

I know in the long run that cost them money as they have less active members, less traffic, less clicks, etc. I almost signed up to be a supporting member over there about a year ago until some thread came up on m.net about why they won't allow sponsor "bashing" in any form or fashion where Gary made an *** out of himself, proving it was about the money, and nothing else. That's when I lost interest in the site.

which is why I:

a) will never pay for it

b) dont answer stupid questions unless:

b.1) it entertains me

b.2) makes the original poster/asker feel a little stupid.

so miata.net will eventually full of subscriber noobs with no information?

If I was a paying vendor like Tire Rack, I would be taking my business elsewhere.

Why should I pay that much to have green highlights undercut me and annoy my potential customer base.

The highlighted links are aggravating......but m.net started to suck dick years ago, this is just another phase. I don't have alot of free time to play on the web...but when I do I come here. This forum is more my style, for some m.net is more their style.

I don't know why some people are willing to go out of their way to get banned, equally I don't understand why some people stick up for Gary like he's a close personal friend. Gary as well as the mods over there are more into getting their kicks by flexing their e-authority, rather than making it a helpful, technical, fun environment.

Like many agree, m.net was the beginning for alot of us, but we have since moved on. I go there now only to link info that can help, classifieds, and that's it. Same with cr.net, not really worth my time going there. Simple....don't like the environment....remove yourself bitch!

Well said, the problem does exist on both ends. I too don't understand why people feel the need to go to other sites and **** with people. I guess it is easy to be a tough guy on the internet

my thoughts exactly, who cares what they're doing? why do we constantly have threads about their forum or the specific asshats they harbor? if you really need a forum personalized exactly to your liking make your own.

Meh, I see your point. I had a similar train of thought on a few other topics, like politics. But the mods here agree this is the "BULLSHIT" section, so that's exactly what goes here. So on those grounds, I say we can bash them, but don't go over there and start **** just to start ****, like whoever that did that here about posting the ad blocker commands.

I think the guy gets villified a little more than he deserves. Some of the mods over there are tools, I will agree, but knowing what I do about the inner workings of that place, I can see where Gary is coming from more often than not.

They hate us because we are immature, we hate them because they are uptight. And the world goes round and round.
