Over 20 but under 40?

:pitlab:

Just wanted to feel like I belonged. I'm 33.

SamS 05-07-2008 11:15 PM

But I'm exactly 20. I guess I'll have to make my own thread. Apparently I'm on the verge of a great statistical turning point in my life.

JayL 05-07-2008 11:22 PM

33 here as well.

you love pole dont you!

and here i'm gonna send you some stuff to quote. real life sometimes just isn't is it?

so yeah, for all us pre-adult, post-kid age guys, how do you fit in to your hopes and dreams now that you are old enough to realize them and young enough not to have given up on them?

I make 15% less than I did when I was 29 and live 3000 miles from the sunshine of california where i grew up and i'm once again dating a girl i was with in college. about to buy a house. starting to think about kids (all my friends have them) and trying to figure out at what point do I start to FEEL like an adult. Cuz I dont yet. but on the news when a 19 year old commits some crime or saves someone's kitty, they call him a young MAN. I call bull shit on that! When I was 19 I was dicking around at school trying to pass classes without going to them and trying to get the attention of all the honeys I could. I was no man.

I wear shorts and tshirts to work. I'm no adult. I think. right?

Stein 05-07-2008 11:57 PM

I still don't "feel" like an adult. It's kind of cool. I can now afford to play more and still make time for it. That's the problem with most people. They get to a point when they can play but don't have any time. I know that for me it's because we never had kids. I get off of work and my evenings are free--all of them. Keep the free time and you never have to grow up or become "responsible regular" adults going to soccer games, recitals, whatever. I never wanted kids. My wife did. It never happened so I guess it worked out. She's OK with it now. We travel a lot, do whatever we want to. Heading to Alaska on a cruise the end of this month.

So, I guess to answer your rehtorical question, I think most become an adult when they have kids. Maybe they don't want to, but they pretty much have to.

I'm 26, married 2yrs and just had a son 2months ago...
I was always the opposite, wanting to be older/older/older...moved out of my house at 15, started working construction at 16, started doing mortgages at 19, and ran a branch at 21. Opened my own mortgage business at 23, and now opened a truckign co (very small, 2 trucks) at 26. Own my house, and support my wife almost completely (financially).

Just making a point that you SHOULD make time to play throughout...as I still have that play mentality, and squeeeeeeze in time between my many responsibilities, but won't be able to "do what I want for a looooong time".

Don't get me wrong, my son and my wife are the best thing that ever happened, just saying things(priorities) DEF change as you get older...And I think quite a few people are missing their "playtime" as we all have half-ass ghetto rigged setups, that are "almost perfect"....lmao

25, Had to put my life on hold for about 6 years on because of medschool. Not very concerned about the lack of house / kids / summerhouse yet, but feels that I will be when I'm 30+. Not to think about my poor girlfriend, who also will have to wait obviously.

swimming108 05-08-2008 07:30 AM

looks like this is where i fit in. My girlfriend is now my fince, kids i knew from school are either dying, having kids, or graduating from college. The burdens of adulthood are upon us my friends. Preserve your childhood by doing the things that you used to read about in car magazines.

Well, I will turn 30 on Saturday, but I am fighting it! I have the last 6 years lived and worked in 4 different countries and my brother and sisters kids nows me as "the cool uncle that brings the expensive gifts". My Finacee (GF since 5 years) is 22 and i drive a BMW... Am I having an early mid-life-crise?

harleybutter 05-08-2008 08:02 AM

I turn 34 in October. My wife is a red headed 37 year old, so at least there is someone in the house I can pick on...

levnubhin 05-08-2008 09:21 AM

27 here, will be 28 in June. Own my own house, love my job. I pretty much work the hours I want. Have a wife and 1 1/2 old son. Im very much enjoying these years. I have my car almost where i want it. Im in the middle of renevations with my house, which is exciting. Im planning on taking diving lessons this summer and I also plan to get back into mountian biking as soon as I find a deal on a bike. I have big plans for when my son is older!
